Strange attraction

Things got pretty f**ked up for me when I was younger, and I self mutilated, most apparently cuts out of my left arm. They healed pretty well, but are noticable on the underside. I forget about the scars on my arm most of the time. Its not that I am ashamed... well, yeah I am ashamed but not to the point where I hide it.
Then yesterday a man hits on me at a lunch table, and the conversation takes a weird turn when he starts asking about my scars. He seems really really interested, and I sensed he was turned on by it when he started to touch them a little. This freaked me out, and I said I was late for class...

So, its this normal? at all? I am pretty otherwise, and its not like a burn victim, they just look like what they are. Is this too creepy or is this somewhat normal?
