I certainly don't see any reason why not. You should be cautious though you never actually know who you are talking to online. It could be a 50 year old gay man you've been talking to so BEWARE!!

If you do meet her, you should make sure it's in a public place to make sure your safe. Also, have you seen a picture of her? Have you spoken to her on the phone or heard her voice somehow? Have you spoken to any of her friends?
