Musical Imagination
When I listen to music I often picture myself as the performer. I do it so often that I can do it while I drive and never get in an accident. Sometimes I picture people I know in the audience and what they would think of me performing - basically impressing them. Other times I make up a character who is the performer, and think about another person - maybe someone famous or a character from a movie - and think about them watching the character. It usually leads to how they meet and then a story goes from there, or it's part of an overall story in my head. For example, I was listening to a female performer the other day and pictures her performing on SNL, and the host (a famous guy I have a crush on) was totally smitten. Ill often continue the story before I fall asleep at night. Sometimes I force myself to do it to flush other thoughts out of my head. It helps me fall asleep and can often improve my mood. If I'm having a conversation with someone or otherwise occupied I listen to different music in the background. But I can't just sit there and listen. I often wonder how people can listen to music alone without imagining stuff in their head.
Is this normal?
Comments very welcome. FYI I'm an adult (over 21) and female.
I never actually thought about why I did that, or if it was nromal or not. You have me thinking!
I personally love it. Keep your mind at work and do whatever the hell you feel, man.
