Sounds like one of two things. 1)He sees you as a friend, but not as a close one, so he's fine seeing you whenever. 2) He's messing you about, choosing to talk to you when it suits him. Considering how you feel though, the best thing would be to stay away. Its not conducive to any kind of healthy relationship and its not doing you any favours.

an asshole! Do you really want to be with a guy who treats you that way? Do you really think you deserve that? I've had guys do that to me and it made me feel like shit about myself. Then I realized that I didn't WANT to be with someone who made me feel worse about myself. I decided I wanted a healthy relationship where the guy is not so selfish and cares about my needs as well. Just a thought.

Sounds like he's not very emotionally attached to you but still can enjoy your company sometimes.

i'm in the same exact situation with my ex now.
it's so frustrating.
you want them so bad.
to at least talk to them. just be their friend. that's all. just know you actually matter to them.
and they just randomly don't talk to you forever and then out of the blue one day try to be all buddy buddy again.
sucks.
i think the best is to try to pull away from them because they will only keep you in this strange hot-cold situation and will never actually get rid of you completely or let you back into their life and you will constantly feel like shit either way.
