Is It Normal?
What do you think?
Bad side effects
I'd just like to know if anyone on here has to take any type of medication for (depression, anxiety, psychosis); etc.
If so , have you ever had any bad or weird side effects from any of them i.e. nervousness, shakiness, trouble sleeping/insomnia, or night terrors, or seeing or hearing things that aren't reallly there? If so, do you know if these are typical side effects of these types of drugs or does this just vary from person to person? Is this normal?
(All smart, thoughful, helpful comments only are welcome).

I do . . .
Side effects from depression/anti-anxiety medications DO vary from person to person. Other wise these drugs would not be on the market.

I've experienced (not all these symtoms on the same drug!), nervousness, shakiness, dizziness, nausea, headache, and sleepiness in all extremes! My Doc tryed me on quite a few different prescriptions before we found one I could tolerate.

I’ve taken a variety of medication and I think it depends on the type and the dose. I was on several anti-depressants. The older ones, trazadone and imipramine gave me dry mouth and I did gain some weight on them. They also made me drowsy. Celexa gave me horrible insomnia at first but it subsided after I was on it for a while. I didn’t gain or lose and it was probably the best drug out of all of them. Paxil and Effexor gave me a stomach ache. So much so that I just couldn’t take them anymore. The tricyclics seem to have more side effects for me than the serotonin ones. The imipramine can affect your heart too. I had to have ECG’s every two months, which was a pain. I was on some anti-psychotics too. I was on melaril, which made me very drowsy and I did have some shakiness. Chlorapromazine also made me drowsy and slow. I would also shake. Zyprexa made me gain weight like crazy. I was on Buspar for anxiety and I really don’t know if there were side effects because I was on other things then too. I think all of them made me shake a little. It really depends. For me, the newer the drug are the less side effects. You have to look at the individual drug. Google it and if the side effect you are having isn’t listed, ask your doctor. I don't think any of them would cause you to hallucinate. That's more likely your illness than the drug.
