What do you think?
Leaving the past behind
Anyone remember the first time they truly had to leave behind something they really had a passion for? whether it was not getting into the college you wanted, not getting the job you wanted, being obsessed over a lover and finally months or in some cases years after you finally realize it will never happen. anyone remember when they finally learned (not just understood the concept) that life really isnt a game, and when people die they never come back? I know that we all experience these things throughout our whole lives..however for me it has taken several years to actually internalize and fully understand what all of this means. i feel like i have lived multiple lives and that certain phases that lasted for years are frozen in time.

Learning how to deal with it and enjoy the rest of your life...

Maturity
Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I liked to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin makin trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one lil fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in bel Air'

I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suite case and send me on my way
She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.
I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.

First class, yo this is bad
Drinking orang juice out of a champagne glass.
Is this what the people of Bel-Air Living like?
Hmmmmm this might be alright.

But wait I hear the pricey booze, wine all that
Is Bel-Air the type of place they send this cool cat?
I don't think sow
I'll see when I get there
I hope they're prepared for the prince of Bel-Air

Well, the plane landed and when I came out
There was a dude who looked like a cop and yelled my name out
I ain't trying to get arrested
I just got here
I sprang with the quickness like lightening, disappeared

I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I can say this cab is rare
But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'

I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8
And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later'
I looked at my kingdom
I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

Dont take any notice of some of the other comments here. Its not because you are old or have lived your life yet. It is just the way it is. It has happened to me many of times and im still young. Dont let this affect your self esteem and keep going, dont let these things get you down.
I prefer my own altered version of reality to the reality that I can't get what I want. Then again, it seems like blindly charging ahead has always worked out fine for me, but then that could be the altered reality speaking.
I think Steve Miller (The Steve Miller Band)said it best in "Fly Like an Eagle," "Time keeps on ticking ticking ticking into the future!!!"
it's really, really hard to admit past mistakes and move on.
