Is It Normal?
What do you think?
crossroads
Ive come to a crossroads in my life where i have the choice of sticking with soft drugs(hash weed etc)
or moving on to something stronger such as pills, speed etc.
I know the what the outcome will be if i go the harder drugs, ill have a fantastic time until somewhere down the line i eventually realise how fucked up i am.
I also know the outcome if i stick with cannibas, ill probaly still be fucked up but less so.
Ive tried pills already and by god there brilliant.
Is it normal for a 17 year old to be faced with this decision?

God yes!
I started trying cocaine, pills, and GHB when I was 16 and 17. I got hard into the coke and started selling it (and weed). I realized how hard it was on me mentally, physically, and socially so I quit everything. Then when I was 19 I started smoking again casually. The people I was hanging around always had coke and meth. I got sick of coke and started doing meth...hardcore. It got so bad that I had to go to the emergency room because I was hallucinating and I couldn't stop puking violently. I blacked out in the hospital and started having convulsions. So, I would reccomend you not graduate on to bigger drugs. I have been clean from meth for 10 months and it still haunts my days and nights. Good luck.

You forgot one very REAL outcome....DEATH. I tried drugs in college... alot of different ones and I am so lucky that someone didn't kill me or i didn't kill myself. I still smoked the weed until recently due to pregnancy, but my husband still does. Honestly, I don't think weed is that bad, but it can also take you into the dark places of your mind and ruin your future. I was completely unmotivated to do anything and now that I have stopped I feel much better. It's your decision ultimitaly, but remember this...You only get one body, one life, one chance in this world.

I have a friend in a mental hospital who's made everything in her life worse by the "fun" of switching to harder drugs. Not to say that's in the least bit related to your dilemma, I just like horror stories.

I also have a friend we call Ugly Bill the Druglord, he's tried just about every drug you don't need a needle for. And he's turned out fine. Then again, this is a guy who casually picked up and dropped Oxyconton, so I guess he can't be addicted to anything.

Sorry, this was totally unhelpful. Anyway, don't be stupid. Because being stupid is stupid.

Don't do it
Trust me man, from personal experience. Harder drugs can really mess with you. One bad trip can mess you up mentally and physically for months. It's simply not worth it.
Take some advice from me, and stick with natures crop. Chemicals, pills, derivatives, all of these in my opinion compared to natural substances are a very poor trade-off. Another recommendation I can give you is, stop smoking hash, and stick with the actual plant material when you can get it. UK made hash does contain THC, but in proportion to the quality and amount contained in plant material it is not worth it; not to mention the large amounts of rubbish that goes into most hash in the UK. Also, try to slow down a little. Taking drugs is not a competition to see who can take the hardest thing. 'Drugs' do not make you cool or popular, they however do not make you uncool or unpopular. This is down to the person who uses, weather for recreational, medicinal, or spiritual. Treat whatever you take with respect and responsiblity, and you will be fine.
other drugs
Well, this is a very normal choice to be faced with. I was faced with this choice about 25 years ago.

Over the past 25 years I have taken all manner of chemicals including Cocaine (hydrochloride and freebase), Amphetamine, Methedrine, Heroin, Morphine, Codeine, Diconal, Pethidine, MDMA, MDA, DMT (including mixtures with Harmaline/Harmine), 2CB, DOB, DOM, IAP, TMA-2, DMMDA-2, Methylone, LSA, LSD, GBL, GHB, Diazepam, Flunitrazepam, Nitrazepam, Temazepam, Methaqualone.

I no longer smoke cannabis, as I don't like it, and smoking is about as bad a thing as you can do for your health (apart from cocaine which is very bad for your cardiovascular system).

However, I still like to take many of the chemicals above as I enjoy them very much.

During the last 25 years I have had a very successful career and am happily married with lots of close friends.

I advise against taking cocaine, as it gives you little positive in the long run. I would also advise against taking opiates as they are very easy to become dependent upon for some people (not for others). I suppose that amphetamine and methdrine fall into the same category of difficult to control substances for some people.

The hallucinogens are fantastic in my opinion, and only seem to have postive long-term effects for me.

MDMA may have to be treated somewhat carefully (not to over-do it) as I have a feeling that it may give you some problems if you over-do it. It is possible that it is neurotoxic in humans (animal studies indicate this may be the case).

Downers are OK but they are a bit of a waste of time and you have to be careful not to drink too much with them as you may die.

Overall, I would make exactly the same choices again as I have had such a rich experience as a result of my earlier choices. However, maybe I have been one of the lucky ones.

Drugs can end up being pretty expensive too (depending on the type you are taking). This means you need to get yourself a good career, or you end up funding your drugs by selling them. This is where some of the greatest damage of drugs can be done. If you get caught, you may wind up losing years of your life in prison. It's all too easy I think to think you will get away with things because you are clever. Unfortunately things can always go wrong.

Regarding your Crossroads
It's really normal for a 17-year-old to be faced with a decision of whether to do drugs or not. What is not normal is a comment someone else posted here saying that they've used drugs for 25 years and are just fine.

I know someone who turned herself into a schizophrenic by taking drugs. She was just in the psychiatric ward for the 3rd time. She has been pregnant 4 times and has none of her children. If she ever gets pregnant again, child welfare will automatically take her baby away from her. She has damaged her brain so badly from using the drugs that she has seizures and has to take medication for that, has continuous hallucinations and is on medication for that, and she can't make change or think, really, any more. If you give her $5 and tell her something costs 50¢, she has no idea how much change she should get. Oh - and she's not 30 yet. So she's not old. A family member has filed for legal guardianship because she simply can't function for herself any more.

I guess - ask yourself what you want. You're a kid. Go to your local police department and ask to look at mug shots of meth users. Most police departments now keep running pictures of meth addicts. Some people's faces get really haggard and nasty.

As far as the pot and the pills - watch yourself. The pot isn't too bad, but there are chemicals in pot (even "pure" pot, that some people will try to talk about) that will actually cause your brain to shrink and long-term use will totally kill your short-term memory. Pills - how do you know what you're taking? This girl I'm talking about - she liked to take Dramamine or Nyquil as one of her deals - meth or coke if she could, pot or alcohol if it was available - pretty much whatever was there. The pills caused the liver damage she's having.

I know it sucks to be 17 - I was there not too long ago - but it isn't worth the possibility of winding up in jail or prison - or a mental vegetable - or dead. It's really not. And a lot of the drugs are hard to stop once you start.

Frankly, I don't believe that person who says they've used drugs for 25 years and everything's hunky-dory. I have yet to meet someone who is able to keep that kind of thing under control. Everything may seem kosher on the surface, but I'll bet that person has some serious problems that they aren't admitting to. A job is not everything. Earning money is not everything. I'm talking spouse, kids, relationships with friends, creativity, all kinds of things. Any drug dampens those.

My husband is a musician who used to be a heavy drinker and pot smoker. He will admit that the usage really dampened his ability to write music and play music - and he says that he thinks the pot smoking damaged his head, because he's in his early 30's and forgets things. He can't remember how to play some of his own songs.

Sorry this got long - I just saw some of comments other people posted and had to say something. You're young, and tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life. You still have time to stop and let your brain heal - and to not start using anything else.
Education
The thing to remember is education and moderation. Understand what you are doing.
I started smoking weed when i was 15. I found this was a fun way to pass time. I didn't start taking harder drugs just to get a harder hit. I started on Ecstacy, Ketamin, etc. because i was going to raves. It gives my energy and other feelings - euphoria etc. I do this very often with my friends. We all know the pitfalls and understand where to draw the line. Everything in life has it's good or bad side. You can get in a car and die, cross the road and die. Taking drugs is no different, as long as you minimise the risks and use the right drugs in the right situation you should be fine. Don't, however, just take drugs for the sake of it. You should have other interests to keep you occupied. Also try to balance the effects on your body by staying fit, eating healthy and not hammering the drugs.
stick with soft drugs.. obv. the better descision, for the long-term anyways. try to stay the least f**cked up as is possible ;) peace, and good luck
Just do it safe...
im 17 and i came accross the same decision a couple of months ago. i have been doing hash an green for a while and i came to me that it just wasnt thrillling enough so i started up speed, coke and pills and i love em :P PLEASE make sure that what ur purchasing or using isnt stuff that u have never seen, make sure u get off of someone trust worthy..and enjoy, its natural :)
Dude... pick up an instrument.

It's one thing to listen to music high... it's something else entirely to make music high. You will alway have new experences with an instrument with out the nasty side effects of the hard drugs... like death.
I go by one rule in situations like these. Only do things that are God made and natural. Weed and Shrooms. Everything else, they can keep it!
Totally normal
Look, its like this. The sooner you do pills and speed, the sooner you get sick of them and realise that they will in the long-run fuck you up both mentally and physically. So just do them, have your fun,and go back to dope when you learn from first-hand experieance.

Cokes alright btw,its much more cleaner, but just dont get addicted 2 it.
