As much as the bloke is a hero for doing this you have to stop and think if he is prepared to kill it would be just as easy for him to kill for other reasons as well. You have to watch what you're doing with the sex offenders register though. I read a story about some guy who looked up a list of names on it then went off trying to kill them all. He only managed 2 before he was caught and he shot himself rather than face jail.
Anyway, It turns out the first guy did deserve it (little boys or something) but the second guy was put on the register for having sex with his girlfriend who was two years younger than him when he was 17 or something. It wasn't rape or anything.

one time I went to prison in utah and when i got out they put me in a sex offenders half-way house although i did not commit a sexual offense (it was theft), but there i became friends with a child molester (unknowingly) and after a few weeks he told me he liked to rape little girls, i asked why, he said he liked to make them cry and suffer and that turned him on?!?, we never spoke again, but this is the kind of person that destroys the childhood of young people nationwide......should something like a vigilante kill them, i say it is inevitable whether it is right or wrong and it will continue as long people turn to do these dark evil things to other people who are way too young and too little to even fight back!!!! I hate paedophiles as much as the next person but it's the decision of the courts as to what their punishment should be. Granted, the courts aren't always right but that's the law, and that's how we operate as a - supposedly - civilised society.

I have always felt that capital punishment for any crime and under any authority is wrong. I have a number of reasons why:

1./ It's too easy, even nowadays, to convict an innocent man or woman. If someone spends a long time in jail but then turns out to be innocent, they can be set free with an apology. But how do you apologise to a dead person? Or to their family? Their parents, siblings, or children?

2./ The power to decide on capital punishment is a power that can very easily corrupt people. When you hold a person's life in your hands, you experience a power which can take control of your mind - and that can lead to you becoming a worse person than those you kill. (Watch a production of Christopher Marlowe's "Edward II" for an illustration of this idea.)

3./ If you take a life, then you have taken something that you can never give back. Because of this, I feel that killing leaves you with a permanent debt to the person/animal that you kill. That means that you would have to weigh up whether you were prepared to be in permanent debt to a paedophile before you killed him/her (yes, female paedophiles are rare but they do exist). That's how I see it anyway.
