Probably a lot more. Installing a new/larger engine/tranny and AC are major jobs, not what the average backyard mechanic can handle ... Might as well buy a brand new car.

I think I would buy a new car that one is getting a little old and even after the improvements you speak of problems in body and chassis may occur that will be costly. Something else to think about young girls wont be that impressed with a 12yo car but a sleek new sporty car will definately get them wet

you should get a 5.7 and the t-56 tranny (6 speed) out of a newer camaro from a junkyard... the mounting points for the engine and tranny are going to be the same the fule lines are going to be the sameand you might be able to get away with the electrical harness too.... dont forget to get the ECM for the 8 cyl.... you will be much happier with something that you had customized to your liking instead of settleing for something else that is nice but not exactly what you wanted. if you are working with a $15k budget you should be fine, unless you are gonna do body work along with the paint job (rust, dings, dents)... also check out the frame of the car make sure its straight (prior accidents, rust/rot)...

back to realistic prices... who ever is thinking of building this car, you may want to consider keeping an automatic transmission, because it will be cheaper. you will need your tansmission, clutch pedal, pedal bracket, clutch cylinder m&s, and a bunch of other little shit. also depending on what trans you get you may need the computer for it... dont forget you will also have to cut a hole in the floor if you get a stick tranny. you SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO YUDONTKNOW ME..... keep your A/C its hotter than hell where you live and im sure the few HP that the ac does rob from you will be worth the trouble...if you plan on racing in the streets, just shut off the a/c...
