Yes, these are normal side effects of a drug and alcohol addict. Some drugs, like cocaine, let your inhibitions down which could be the reason for him wanting indiscriminate sex, leading to the herpes (he is lucky; my brother got HIV).

My brother had all of these symptoms and used other legal drugs between times when he could get his hit. Sometimes he would call me from the strangest places and wouldn't know how he got there or where his car was. Once he apparently was hit by a car as he stumbled into the road at night and walked home without knowing that he had a horrendous leg injury until the drugs wore off and he woke up in a pool of blood.

When i was younger I watched my mother ride the lightening for years before an OD put her into a 3 week coma. She also has a hole in her septum from snorting stuff. She is now not very smart at all. She lives in a camper on our property because we don't want her around the kids.

I put it to you that no side effects of drugs are 'normal', thus their classification as drugs.. When drugs affect the brain they can cause almost anything to happen, even just from alcohol consumption (though the rest of the body is usually fucked long before the brain is)... So what can happen with your brain? Well yes, halucinations, blacking out, fainting, loss of inhibitions, dropping into a subconcious state asif one is sleepwalking without thinking at all, permanent damage to any function of the brain - any sences, memory, movement, basically everything; lack of control of the body, and anything else really... This is because the drug is altering the way your neurones throughout your body work, and mess around with messages in the brain (duplicating, intercepting, randomly generating, connecting with etc)...

So yea, what has previously been said about sex should be considered, and a general caution used when thinking about/using drugs. They are banned for a reason guys...

Herpies. I don't really know how. sex with hookers or other people

alot of those side effects are normal..you should help that person though..drugs cant lead to anything good.
