Just start to get to know him - if he's not gay he could take it badly, if he is and he's not comfortable with it he'll probably act the same way though - schools tough. It gets easier in the real world (where you can pick guys up in specially built bars).

Wow, until i saw starlet's post, i still thought poster of story was a chick... Dude, I havnt ever hit on any guys at my school, hell, i havnt hit on guys, they hit on me first 0.o#
but, first befriend him, then invite him over to play x-box or something. Then ask him who the hottest chick is, in his opinion. If he gives the same answer that you wqould (if u were lieing) then say something like "Girls are so annoying, its so much easier to relate to a guy" and go from there.
