Two choices you have, come out and get kicked out, or keep it private and become an eagle scout. Why don't you become an eagle scout and later come out and let them kick you out. I doubt they can take away something you earned once you have it, only they can send you packing.

Dude, I know where you're coming from. I'm an Eagle Scout and I'm gay....although I didn't really realize I was gay 'til later..........

If you're under 18, you might as well just get Eagle, then once you've aged out THEN you can come out to them if you want, and like the comment before me, it's not like they can do anything. I haven't read about any court cases where they took someone's Eagle rank away from them for being gay. But it's the most messed up thing ever to say that a gay man can't be a good role model. I've had so many parents thank me for setting such good examples for their kids, for being friends with them, for modeling leadership.......but believe me, if they knew I was gay, there's NOTHING that would change their minds about me. I'd go from hero to zero like that. Unless, of course, the parent was open-minded to begin with.

So yeah. Get what you can out of Scouts. If you wanna come out, alright.......but Be Prepared for the consequences if you do.
