The proper way to spell it is "English" with a capital E!
Although it can drive one bonkers, the weird thing is that the brain can still process all this, including what you wrote. So I have learned to be more tolerant of the internet shorthand, text message styles, and misspelled words, which we all do from time to time. But if I were a teacher and this was a classroom project, I would have a field day with the red pen! Lighten up my friend!
really it does bug the crap out of me to but somethings u can just spell easier and still understand like u and stuff like that and y stuff that is easy to read
Nope. Thats completely normal. I find deliberate and unnecessary bad spelling irritating. I can't spell, and actually have a mild form of dylexia, but this pisses me off something rotten!
It is completely normal. It's also completely normal for you to hate them to the point of hunting them down and purposely making their lives miserable.

Make it a life goal. You are not alone, we are out in force and we will save the dignity of language.

Amen to that
There are a lot of people posting their personal problems on here but have you noticed the correlation between the severity of their problems and their inability to communicate them effecively? It's pretty much linear.

The sad thing is you have probably paid a small fortune in taxes to educate these cretins.
Yes!
Quite possibly the best post on this site. I was so appalled with the first paragraph I almost clicked "Skip", but decided to see what this idiot was babbling on about. I totally agree with your sentiment. Misspelling and typos are forgivable but pointless abbreviations and letter replacement are not, especially when you can enter limitless amounts of text (e.g. here). 100% normal.
Il spel stuf ow i lyk it yea!
I must admit i often abbreviate, being as lazy as I am, but the kids i talk to online...
o yeh a lyk im cos e iz mah twinny n if ya got sumink 2 say den say it 2 mah face. vix is mah b-m8, tori iz mah twinny, brad iz fyn

whats with exchanging 'i' for 'a' in a sentence, or 'my' for 'mah'? i really dont follow that. Also they put so many symbols in their names i cant concentrate...
i talk to them on msn and they all list thier friends in their display name.

They used to sit me by a dyslexic girl in history... that was a mistake. and i was in a pub quiz last night and my uncles writing the answers down, everyone leans over to agree with him "oh yeah, thats it john!2 and stuff, im like..."erm, wasnt there a 't' in 'interflora, John?"
they made me swap seats

No - not 'U R' or 'your'. We spell it 'you're', don't we.
^Forgot a question mark. Your first paragraph is in leet (1337) speak. It was developed by hackers so that their posts on forums or web pages would not show up on search engines. For instance, if you did a Google search:
+hack +"school records"
it would not return something like h0w t0 h4ck sc001 r3c0rdz.
This kept them from being tracked down.
The point of this is that I know some people who have a legitimate reason for typing like this sometimes. Computer geeks will do it for the historical significance. Private forums will do it to keep their sites away from a search engine top result for the real words. There are certain instances when I feel it is okay to write like this (punctuation would still be nice). I do agree with you that a lot of idiots out there just think that it makes them cool and have no appreciation for language, 1337 or English.
Agreement and thanks for enlightening some of us here El. Kudos.

That bugs the crap out of me so much that I feel like tearing all of my hair out. And when I say all... I mean ALL of my hair.
SEXSEXSEX
Hey, have you noticed every other blonde who posts about her sex problems is all like "he wanna have a 3sum but i dont want 2" -periods -caps -extra toppings + period juice
Oh, guys too.
It pisses me off too. I can't lighten up, bad grammar is lame! I do my best not to make isitnormal posts about it though :P

no, its not normal...you're just "spedcial"

use a condom it fails 30% of the time, so be sure she's not near her PERIOD.
Writing like that bugs the heck out of me. My cousin, and my friend both type that way and I barely understand what they are saying. It's quite annoying.

But, I can see and understand the using of the letters y, r, u, n, o, ok, for simpler words. I don't use them myself, but I do get why others do.

Why people kill the English language I do not know. Even if a person just writes like that on the computer, it still hurts the actual language. Dumb people.

*If my comment offends you, just remember, it's my own oppinion. You don't have to agree with it.*
'Opinion.'
Irony isn't just a description of New York water.
man i gotta agree wid u. i no its hypacritacil or wotever and im allways abreviating n shit but i dnt actually like it. force of habbit dat im to lazy 2 break. da english language kicks ass!!! :P
Sicko.
I am 2 years behind in highschool and incredibly lazy, but I still spell everything correctly online. You're the one butchering the English language and making Muslims hate western culture even more than before.
Take a shower, then jack off. Finally call your mother to tell her the horrible crime you just committed.

RASAP
Get out more.
College Degree, RIGHT, stupid fukn asshole, even if you like internet slang no 1 else does. Dickhead...
When I talk to someone MSN and "dey strt givin me dis shit tlkin loadsa random crap n shortenin words dat rnt even hard to spel" I block them and never speak to them again. Why? Well I like to talk using complete sentences and proper punctuation and it just feels awkward talking properly to someone too lazy/stupid to even type "you" and "are" correctly. I automatically assume that person is stupid and I don't like having conversations with stupid people. I like talking to intelligent people.

People often say %u201CBut it's quicker and everyone does it%u201D
a) If you learn to type properly it's not quicker (I find it slower as I have to think of ways to randomly mutilate words)
and b) Maybe everyone you know does it, but I don't associate with idiots.

And yes, I use proper spelling and punctuation in text messages as well. It takes slightly longer to send but it's worth it not to look like a spastic.

When I do use internet slang and txt speak it's because I'm being ironic or sarcastic. I find it really helps sarcasm. %u201Clolz u r so clever!!11one%u201D. Apart from that I speak British English and I'm damn proud of it.
