In times of trauma the human body will react in different ways, some of them in very unorthodox ways, which seem inappropriate, unusual, but are still ways. The crying likely took affect because your laughter was excessive and triggered a release of tears. So, yes, sisophous classifies your response as normal.

Yea I found the same thing happening to me once. I went a little too fast round an icey roundabout and ended up skidding all over the road upon exiting.
Fortunatly I was able to straighten up and drive on as normal as if nothing happened.
A few seconds passed while the event sunk in and I just burst out laughting at myself lol.
I was laughing all the way to work just thinking of how it must have looked to all the cars behind me (Which luckily I didn't hit!)

once when i was 19 i was on a highway i wasn't really used to driving on.after dropping off a co-worker she told me to start driving like i had sense,i was like i've never been in a wreck,i can drive.I was going about 65 when i went off the road a lil bit,i swirved back onto the road really fast like a dumbass,and needless to say i lost control of the car.I remember seeing the faces of the people i was about to hit so i swirved back to the right and went into a ditch.I remember thinking so this is what it's like to go into a ditch.i could have died or worse killed somebody else from being careless and inexperienced.when i got out of the car i was traumatized,and could barely stand up,and all i could think about was why didn't my air bag pop out.my bumper was tore all to pieces and my frame was pushed so far back that it is still screwing stuff up.Then later my boyfriend at the time did a 360 on a skinny,curvy road.i was almost asleep,laying down with the seat back.He wanted me to drive and i couldn't figure out why he was so upset,it didn't seem to bother me that time.so i guess it all depends on circumstance.
