Basically it is anything that brings about sexual gratification and raises sexual arousal levels. Some common ones are shoe fetishes, clothing fetishes, and feet fetishes.

Persoannly (And this is just me) I'm not a fan of the word "fetish" because "fetish" implies that it's the one and only thing you're turned on by, where as I myself have several turn-ons.

However, a fetish can simply be any fantasy, any turn-on, any variation on a sexual theme, any paticylar aspect of a sexual fantasy, etc.

I'll give you an example; I recently discovered an intereting website. Now this is all pre-planned and agreed on by both parties.

But what he does is, basically, videotapes girls through the window getting ready for bed, sneak in the house (the door is usually left open for him) and does stuff to them while they're asleep.

Now, in that one video, lots of different people can find lots of different fetishes;

what she's wearing, peeping through the window, that she's alseep, that she's being undressed, that she's unconcous, that she's helpless, that she's a willing participant in her oun rape, simply looking at a naked woman, blowjob, breast groping, vaginal sex, and so on. Almost every small detail, even (and especially) the ones that are more in your mind than on screen, could be a fetish.

And then there's women fantacizing about it happening to them, and then there's men fantasizing about wmen fanasiazing about it, etc, there's women fantacizing about men pleasuring themselves while thinking about them, etc.

Quite simply, a fetish is described as an object or action that is necessary for a fetishist to get aroused.

However, the term 'fetish' is usually used to mean 'kink', which is just another turn-on that doesn't necessarily conform to 'normal' sexual practise.

usually fetish means some nonsexual thing that bring sexual arousal--like getting turned on by smelling shoes or touching balloons or some thing like that.Nowadays fetish is used to also mean something like a body part,big breasts or round butts,that can cause sexual arousal of course those things are supposed to cause arousal so calling them fetishes isnt exactly correct.
