Games in which you can choose amongst characters to play, and which are balanced for strength and speed are typically fighting games.

Most people who play fighting games are male, and so fighting games are typically targetted towards heterosexual males.

Female characters are designed so as to attract heterosexual male players, so that you'll want to play the game.

So not only is it normal, but that's what the marketting people want.

When Goldeneye came out for the N64, i basically trounced all my friends in the deathmatch. So i always played using Xenia so i could say "Man, that's rough - you just got beat by a girl."

The girls in video games are almost always hot, too. Plus it's almost a little like seeing what it's like to be a girl, even though it's not at all.

I don't know, I just like being able to have a hot female who doesn't leave the screen. That way if I get stuck in a game it doesn't matter, I can just sit and stare at my character, if the character is male I have to try to figure it out, who wants to look at a guy anyway? Women are much better looking.
