It is common for a speaker who makes a 60 minutes speech at a university to earn several thousand dollars. Not a bad days pay for doing virtually nothing but sharing their experiences/tragedies with the kids. I looked into booking an alcohol speaker at the college level and was in shock at the fees they charge.
