Xbox 360 is excellent. Few if any problems w/ it. PS3 has problems w/ overheating and is far too expensive just for Blue Ray. I recommend getting a Wii although ive yet to play it, but have heard much better reviews and far more have sold compared to the PS3. I would wait at least another 6 months to purchase a PS3. oh and Sony is giving away "a" free Sony made DvD such as "Taladega Nights" if you do purchase a PS3, so thats a plus.....(not!) ps3 has very few cool games out right now that might change but why wait for games?.the wii graphics look crude and the people look dumpy as hell,i think xbox is the winner at this moment but Im still using a ps2 so what do i know?

If you're just wanting to play Blu Ray discs get the HD dvd player for the 360 its around 200 bux. The PS3 is expensive but it's the one with the 60 gig HD that's 600 bux, the one with the 20 gig is 500. Stay with the 360 and just get the hd dvd player.

ps3 is kick ass if you do get it its worth it although if its just for blu ray movies get hd dvd player with the warantees and cables a ps3 comes to 7 hundred and some change. But if you are a gamer the high def games are amazing try resistance and god of war 2 ( also ps2)

Personally, i would get a WII

the 360 was proven to be the best out of the 3 the ps3 was the worst because of lots of minor flaws and poor online features

When the nintendo Wii had been out for half the time of the xbox360 it had just as many games and had taken over with more units sold. The Xbox 360 is crashy, buggy, prone to overheating and was released far too soon after the xbox. If you want to give M$ all your moneys every 3 years for and upgraded system because they will not be making more games for it be my guest...

Of course you could get the wii which has plenty more games and although you cant possibly afford them all you will get more choice (even though alot of those games are sub-par-kids-games and rely on gimmicky mechanics of the wii-mote).

The wii is however the least powerful of the consoles and if you are comtemplating buying it yourself then you are likely too old for it and will want more mature games... but maby all you care about its gameplay, some of the nintendo games are hands-down the best!

The PS3 on the other-hand is a mature console for older folk. combined with having over twice the power of the xbox 360 (read 3x3.2 ghz cores vs 7x3.2 ghz cores devoted to games another core to run the system) and a greater memory capacity and more upto-date gpu it will not go out-of-date as fast as the xbox360. There are enough games allready that you will like to exhaust your cash reserves if you like the games that are both on 360 and ps3 get the ps3 version because the machine will improve the flow greatly. blu-ray disks means bigger better games.
