I know the feeling. Don't try to figure out what other people are thinking, it will just drive you crazy. Instead, just try to do the right thing in life and don't worry.

Best thing is to contact him and ask if he received the gift' Everyone should acknowledge a gift whether they like it or not and be gracious about it.

If he says he received the gift but does not thank you, then so be it. It is a reflection on his poor character, not yours. His parents likely did not teach him right. You do not want any part of someone who deliberately ignores you, if that is the case in this instance. You will know by only asking.

I once sent someone a graduation gift through the mail and they never acknowledged it, never thanked me. So, I asked UPS if they actually delivered it and UPS ended up contacting the person who admitted they received the gift. Some people just don't do the right thing and/or are too lazy to say thank you. It's part of life unfortunately.
