Try chatting with them the same way you would if you were talking to a guy. They may not share your interests, but you can always talk about school, teachers, exams.

I found in college, everyone has one thing in common when it came to education, i.e......courses taken, teachers, assignments, who to avoid, who to take, pitfalls, perks, etc., etc.

Once people get used to talking to you, it becomes easier over time and friendships develop. Don't take it personally if some show a lack of interest in talking, some may just be very shy or private. Simply avoid those who are cold and move on to others.

Basically, did you ever have any friends that were girls, but you didn't date?
