problems with platoon
im a platoon commander in a high school rotc . my platoon has 10 cadets in it ( the others got like 20-30 ). theres these 2 cadets that have a grudge against me somehow . they follow orders but slack off, pretty much think they can do a better job than i . i dont know what im doing wrong to cause this reaction . the rest of my platoon is bahaving fine . one of the rebeling cadet is higher rank than i am, the other one is just one rank below me . i not sure what to do to correct them . i try talking to each of them but it usually ended up with one of them wanting to fight me . any suggestion ?

wait till your not in cadets and bash them
I think it's time to give them extra duty for insubordination.
Find out what power you have or do not have. You can't really deal with a situation if you do not know where you stand. Also find out what authority you have according to your superior and whether your superior will back you up.

If the people above us do not back us, our power is limited. I would go directly to your superior and tell him/her that you would like disciplinary action taken against those two who are rebellious and ask if you have their backing. Give specifics as to what these two do. This will give you a firm understanding of where you stand.

Do not commit yourself to doing anything until you get approval from above.

The higher ranking cadet will be hard to deal with if he is following your orders but the lower ranking one likely is friends with the other and feels he has a green pass to act out.

Request to have them removed from your platoon and removed entirely from ROTC.
well, bashing them is not a good idea since i would get fired from my position if i would engage in a fight against my subordinates . unfortunately, i cannot punish then unless the major or gunner sargeant has approve of it or witness it. ill try what you suggest sisophous.
Good luck and please post back what comes of this. It boils down to your Major or Gunner Sargeant and whether they are of character or not.
we been having some drama in our company this week so i didnt get a chance to talk to our gunny or major yet. what i have in mind is that every cadets in my platoon write a review on my performance as a platoon commander then ill go from there to see what i did to made those two to disobey me so much .
wow its just getting worser everyday. the PO2(the cadet with the lower rank than me) start giving more cooperation but the chief (the cadet with the higher rank than me) just pulling more of my cadets into his rebelling circles. i reprimand him today for smart-talking to me and one of his followers said that i was being unfair. i ask him if he know what a platoon commander's job was and how they suppose to act, he replied with a no but keep arguing that i was unfair. another dramatic event that happen was that our gunny got fired. he was too playful with his cadets and pinned a "pecker inspector" pin onto one of the cadet's clothing, the school's administrator heard about this and was reprimanded him.
I wasa Warrent officer first class so maybe I can help here. The cadet maybe be higher then you but it's sounding lieky ou were put in the position higher them him, which means he should repect you position. ifthat is the cass he could jsut be mad that he has to folow you whe he is higher. Also sme kids just think they are better an you might have a shot wit loading them with responceibly. So when they can't handle it they will back down. And if he is doing this, then you have to take up thechain of commnd. Doccument everything that happens, write it down right after so you emember it clearly and also if you can get some witness to write itp too and hand it in with a forma report.
ok, i just got it all sorted out today. i talked to the major and she said the chief has went up to her and said that he feeled direspected by me. so, i talked to the chief personally and told if he want his respect, give me mine first. he answered with a very cooperative "yes, sir". later that day he went up to me and said sorry about everything. thanks to everybody that post their suggestions.
not sure what you mean by that, stranglelad.
