Is being gay a choice?
I'm just curious is all. Is being gay something ur born with or something u decide. Does a gay guy one day wake up and think hey I'm gay from today onwards. No they must be born with it right?
Your question has been debated by experts in the sexuality field to no end.
My opinion is homosexuality is not a choice, rather it is genetic. I do however think that bi-sexuality is a choice.
Unless it is the same person posting story after story on IsItNormal, it seems like there are endless 13 year-olds who claim to be bi-sexual. To me, that is a choice of theirs, often pier pressures lead them to experimentation. It is common for young people to have an attraction to the same sex or have such dreams. That alone doesn't make them homosexual or bi-sexual.
I think your born that way. I wish people wouldn't judge gay people and just accept them. I wish more gay men and woman could accept and identify their sexuality early in life. I think the last thing any man or woman wants to do is marry someone have kids and then years into the marry say " I'm Gay ". I may have gone a little off topic but I just had 2 get that off my chest. You know your gay from day one whether you accept or ignore is up 2 you.
IMO being gay is a choice. People aren't born gay. For me, it comes from a religious standpoint as I believe being gay is wrong, not to mention gross. And before anyone says anything, no I don't hate gays. A lot of Christians get a bad rap because they can come off as gay haters. I just strongly disagree with the homosexual lifestyle.
I suppose a more useful way of saying what theshadowpoop raised is that you can't choose to be attracted to and have feelings for the same gender as you, but you can be crushed into hiding it from yourself and others by the weight of society's prejudices, resulting in you hating your emotions and yourself and leading to a host of psychological problems and a high chance of suicide.
You can choose to *Do* whatever you want, but you can't choose to *Be*. You are or aren't already.
(I quote form sisophous)( My opinion is homosexuality is not a choice, rather it is genetic.)there was a thing on tv about that the other day.
But in my opinion is it is a choice you offten hear about fags going strait or guy's turning gay some times alfter 20yrs of marrage to the opisite sex.
Shaver's right, who cares why they're gay? It's their choice, and it's their life, I'm not about to tell people how to live, unless of course they want to kill their unborn children, but that's a different topic entirely.
I don't think people are born gay, I also don't think they are born straight. Sexuality isn't something you are born with, it's something you are born into. All your experiences through life make up who you are; your personality and your sexuality. It is something you grow into, but it is not something you choose.
Your not born gay, you probably wont even like thinking of kissing or touching until your older. People have the right to decide their sexuality, but many fall in love and cant help it. If u have feelings for the same sex you r gay. I hope this aids you.

its a complex thing....it is a combination of genetics and environment and choices and many more things all combining to make us who we are sexually and other wise.the main thing is to be happy in this life.its too short to live it trying to fit someones elses idea of 'normal'.
If you are not gay you cannot answer the question. I can because I am gay. You are born that way. Everyone wants to be the norm so it is not a choice or we would be straight in order to be accepted by the masses. Don't throw a bible at someone if you did not write is. The bible says that you are not to condemn or pass judgement on any of God's creatures. It is a sin. If there was a choice everyone would make the same decision. Close minded people go into shock when God makes one of their own gay in order to make the humble.

STRICTLY, my opinion, which don't amount to nothing... I think gay is a choice! Like everything else in life we live what we learn! But, if we make a concentrated effort we can be different!
seems to me that in England being gay is a lifetsyle choice, especially now that faggots can have a legal 'civil ceremony' and get 'married' like normal people, gets right on my wick - i could go on forever on this one!
its choice 100% of the time. Anyone who says otherwise if full of shit and they know it. It is like being born with the ability to steal and kill, if u give into it then u can do it. Being gay is a sin, according to god and what sense would god make if he purposely made ppl gay to make them sin. There is no sense in that.
Speaking as a gay man I can say it's not a choice. I can't really expect people to believe that, since you may think my position doesn't lend me much of a chance to look at this in an unbiased fashion.
To those that say that gay people can become straight, I ask you to think about this: mainstream psychologists agree that such methods often result in serious mental damage being done to the person. Now why would that be, unless they were fine to begin with?
As for "overcoming it by the power of Jesus"? Don't. Just don't. I really don't think I have to address how ridiculous this is.
Face facts, homosexuality is a mutation, present in almost every species. It's not some horrible abomination. What, did all those animals just choose to be gay? Did God strike them down when he (supposedly) struck down Sodom and Gomorrah?

because why the fuck do people care what other people do in their pwn private spaces.
I think the people who obsess over the issue, like the religious and the sqeamish, or more perverted than the gay people.
