Every country has some good to it and of course some or many bad aspects too. The United States is very complex and varied, perhaps the most in the world, and where you settle down will determine whether you are happy or not, also whether your expectations are above what is reasonable. I still am not sure where the best place to live would be within the states according to my preferences and I've been looking for a long time. It would take roughly 10 years to fully understand the USA and its people after living in state after state. If you are very unhappy in the UK, it seems unrealistic to expect a major change in attitude by moving, but a change of scenery often helps.
