perceptive about music

To most of my friends music is just something they listen to without paying too much attention to the lyrics/meaning. I really appreciate music though and I'll listen to each instrument separately sometimes, sort of deconstructing the song in my head and imagine how the band created such a great song from scratch. Like I'll pay attention to how well each instrument flows with the others and with the lyrics/melody. I'll even imagine myself in the band's place trying to create the catchy guitar riffs or drum beat on the instruments.

Music is just a big part of my life, it kind of makes my day when I find a new song that's really good. I tend to really connect with and try to understand the lyrics/meaning while most ppl I know couldn't care less about putting that much thought into it and think its a little odd...

So, is this normal, are my friends just not as reflective as I am?

that's what music does. some songs are great to just listen to and have fun but some stuff is too full of meaning. and if you play an instrument like guitar there's all sorts of stuff you can get to actually play along or learn parts of songs. rock on forever!!!!

i love finding a new band to listen to and getting everyone else to listen to them and really like them.

I agree 100%! I do the same, I really appreciate and all the little sounds and affects in it,Thats what rock music does to me,Its beautiful,It has a meaning and Its just what keeps the world together.I mean how beautiful the voice is or how one instrument makes the whole song,without it what would the band be? I know I sound weird but music is everything too me,look at my username! Listen to Dir en grey..Kyo has the most beautiful voice ive ever heard..they arent another rock/metal band but they are special...listen to jesus christ rnr...beautiful! Hi voice is so versitile! I love music too. I can't go a day without listening to music. Most of my friends like music that has no meaning (like today's rap and hip-hop :excluding Stronger by kanye West:). I hate it when people go around singing crap like "A Bay Bay" and "Crank dat Soldja Boy" and all that crap. Rock music is what really gets me, because it talks about things that they like doing, things that they did, things that are on their mind and they use them so poeticly. I just love it when I hear a good metal/rock song where they actually talk about stuff instead of Cranking Soldja Boys.
