this toolbag doucheknock I work with

I work at my towns local pizza place which has two branches, the second location being in a neighboring town. There is this guy who works there who nobody likes, he acts like a jerk most of the time and doesn't believe in showering, but that is beside the point. He has issues. He can't take a joke or anybody teasing him. Earlier tonight at work, he was eating a pizza in teh back and i came up and touch the crust of one of the slices and he flies off the handle. He gets up and chases me to the front of the store with a look of pure hatred in his eyes like he wanted to kill me. Me and my fellow co workers though were laughing so hard because this guys a douchbag and he gets pissesd about everything. Later on that night, being a smart ass, i asked if i could take the guy out for ice cream to make him feel better and he gets up in my face and says he's gonna kick my ass and he doesn't care if he gets fired. I told him to go for it, and again he had a look i had never seen in anybody's eyes ever, pure evil I swear. Our shift leader saw this and told me it would be best if I left, not wanting to see this kid lose it on me. But the problem is honestly, I'm not sure if I feel safe working with this kid. He had a hit list in high school and always seemed like the sort of kid that if he went crazy he would do something bad. I know that if he ever attacked me at work, I could defend myself, but there are girls there and if he went crazy on one of them, even if they didn't spark it, if he just snapped one night and went off on one of them, they wouldn't be able to do anything. This is a pretty big kid btw, about 6 foot, 230 pounds. I am thinking of going to my boss about this because he has even said he was gonna kick one the girls asses that worked there which just isn't right. I really would like to believe this kid is a big pussy and would never do anything like that but you never know. I just definitely don't want to be responsible if he were to ever go off on one of the girls. I think if I got a couple of the girls together and we went to our boss we might be able to get him fired, but then that would piss him off and put a target on my head. I'm in quite the bind and don't know what I'm gonna do. Any ideas?
