I am lost on your comment. How do you think the world would be a better place if there was no religion? Most laws are based on some religious practice. If there was not religion then there would be chaos. Matter of fact look at Russia. For years they did't allow Religious practice. The coutry was in turmoil. Now they have lasnos and allow it and the country is changing.

Religion is not guilty for 9/11 or Iraq, but the ignorant people actually doing the stuff are to blame.

I mean, the religion is our link with God, our soul (our spirit, life itself) is our link with God, therefore our Religion; and our body is our temple, not those built by men.

My religion is called Kindness man, I believe we should seek spiritual help in whatever shape that is presented to us, and we should adopt for ourselves the things we believe in our hearts; but mostly, respect the people that disagree with us.

in my beginneng religion taught me very little.

At that point religion only really taught me how much trouble i would get into. of the religions that I have had any real contact with.

christianity/judaism - the old testament is quite a fearful read and if i dont do right by god ile get burnt alive or some other punishment.

hinduism - even krishna persaudes the warrior king arjuna that it is his duty to wage war against and kill his family members, when he himself is being racked by guilt.

islam - look at what is being done in that name there. It is scary that muslims will recite passages from their book to justify their actions...thats not the way its meant to be

Lucky for me my parents gave me a loving childhood. It took me a while to realise that!My parents taught me the sanctity of what life is. As their parents taught them. It took me a while to understand that too.

Through them I was introduced to certain rules that I tend to find in all the "best" people that there are, like my parents the people I look up to, there are very few people who live like this but those that I have met vary from being devout atheists to highly religious.

There are four major characteristics that bind them all, I wish i could live my life like this aswell but i try...

If there has been a griveance against them by somebody, they dont care, they let it it drop, without any recourse and as unbelievable as it seems, they wish them well.

They themselves will go out of their way to help anybody, and I mean anybody, without any thought whatsoever of personal gain or reward

If somebody has done them some favor, it never gets forgotten, is always repayed in some way, howver small.

I am still not sure as to why this is important but it is one of their traits. Whatever job they undertake, it is always done with utmost honesty and sincerety to the best of their ability. Nobody will ever accuse them of being lazy or say that money was wasted on them to do that job etc.


Ive spent time and spoke to a few of these people, and to be honest its not religion that has shown them this way, its been either their parents and/or people they've met and their experience of life. Religion only seems to come in when a greater understanding of life and surroundings appears within their thinking. If they ever get to believe in religion, life and experinces turn one of these people away from religion.


History doesnt show me that people cared more for each other, especially in the case of religion. The Modern era is however showing us that we are becoming more cynicle with less time to care about many things especially each other.

I only started understanding some of the intricasies (sp?) of religion very recently in my life and the irony of that it occured because i was seeing just how bad one person can be to another.

I believe having a sense of spirituality can be quite healthy- Its "ORGANIZED" religion I have issues with. I have problems with people worshiping the values, morals, and personal interpretations of OTHER people. Thats what judaism, christianity, and islam stinks of.

Religion is fairly good. It gives you a sense or morale, and hope for a brighter tomorrow I suppose.

I am beginning to believe that the true revelation will be the realization that there is no "God" as we have been led to believe.

I was born and raised Catholic. In my life so far I have come to a point where I am having great difficulty believing that there is an all knowing, watchful God. From my own personal observations and after reading and doing some casual research over the years I have come across some interesting material which has allowed me to form the following opinions:

*The bible was written hundreds of years after Christ's death. It is full of inaccuracies, double standards and contradictions.

*The bible was written by men and also edited by men. Many gospels were left out because this group of men found certain ones to be offensive or detrimental to their cause. The gospel of Mary Magdalene was left out for whatever reasons. She was a woman. She was also a close friend and companion of Jesus Christ and probably knew him better than most. Many other gospels were left out as well.

There is also some fairly damning evidence that Jesus was a bastard son of Abdes Panthera, a roman soldier. When Mary was either raped or had an affair by/with this soldier, she became pregnant with his child. This child was later born as Jesus. This info is recorded in Jewish documentation from those times. You can find more on this by Googling for "parents of Jesus" or "Abdes Panthera".

I do not mean to discredit Jesus here. I will not deny that his teachings to love and respect one another are admirable. But I am beginning to believe that we have all been duped in the grandest sense by Christianity. I am beginning to believe that JC was no more than a figurehead for some political body hell bent on destroying Rome which they succeeded in doing.

I have no more belief in any other religion as well. Every one of them claims to be the right one. Who's right?

The Baptists, the strict Bible thumpers that they are preach that if you don't belive in Jesus Christ you are going to burn in hell forever. For example, any given Jewish Rabbi that has lived his life as a God fearing man, has loved his family, his God and community is going to burn in hell since he does not believe in Jesus Christ as his savior. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong there.

Religion has done nothing but to serve as a means to war and horrible cruelties on all sides.

There may be some form of universal consciousness, some supreme being. But I don't think that it's anything like the bible has led us to believe. You might as well practice Dianetics and join the Church of Scientology. It's no different than any other religion when you get to the bottom of it.
