Honestly, it's just a phase for her and yes it is normal..she is actually crying for help. Many go through this stage, some grow out of it while others stay this way. I only have 2 choices for you though..

1) Talk to her, maybe be her friends

or

2) Leave her alone

And keep this in mind...never judge a book by it's cover.

Ok when I was in school, we called them freaks they listend to all that gay music and crap and this is how it works. All the kids in middle school that are loosers and made fun of have no self respect because everyone has taken it from them so when they get to high school "the freaks" see them all alone and offer friend shit and before their freshman year is up they are dressing in black and listening to that Manson crap and doubting their belief in god. I mean seriously do you know any popular kids that were cool and everyone liked them then all of the sudden they decided to become freaks? No becuase they can only recruit from the misfits and losers who have nothing. I personally think you should do 1 of 2 things
1> dont look at her and just quit thinking about her crazyness
2> make fun of her and call her a loser maybe it will make her wake up and realize she is throwing her life away, or at the very least her freak friends will get mad and tri to fight you and if you are a real man you should be able to kick all their asses since they are mostely all weak losers with no future.
