Violin

Ok I'm a 12 year old girl and I play the violin. I've been playing for almost 7 years. I'm also in my school orchestra (2nd chair first violin). I practice for two hours everyday and on weekends maybe more. On top of all of that I get straight A's. I want to major in music someday. Do you think I'm overdoing it a little bit?

No. Is is great to have a goal in life, and yours is in music. Keep it up, and never give up.
I think it depends, if your tired out all the time then your probably overdoing it a little but it is a good thing to play an instument and to get good grades
Can you play the greatest fiddle tune of all time,'The Orange Blossom Special?
12 year odl DONT GO ON THIS SITE STOP MAKIN BS STORIES
Do you think ur overdoing it?
If you do, well then, u should probably drop something.
If you don't, well then keep at it, 'cause it's always good when you've got something away from school that you enjoy doing.
Also, things WILL get busier the older you get, so, it may get harder and harder to keep everything rolling.
it's already hard but I'm glad to do it really! Playing the violin is my passion and people don't tell me to get off this sight just cuz I'm 12. There are other 12 year olds on here to!!!
1. if you were my kid, i would not be thrilled about you being on this site. I think you are too young. But you're not my kid, so I can't tell you not to be here

2. keep doing what you are doing, keep working hard and practicing. dont listen to people who tell you to lighten up and "have fun while you are young". thats terrible advise. people who are successful in life have fun all their lives, not just when they are "young". right now you are laying down the foundations for a successful, fullfilling life. and you are doing what you love to do.

3. get the hell off the computer and go practice!!
Holy shit I think I know you! Are you in Ms. Hepburn's violin class?
I'd have to agree with the other folks here that this isn't the best place for a 12-year-old to hang out. But since you're already here...

I too played the violin at your age, and also sat next to the concertmaster. Although my grades were not as good as yours, it's clear that we have a great deal in common.

I think you should be proud of your efforts and accomplishments. I'm assuming you do make some time for other hobbies and recreational activities just to balance your life a bit. But I truly loved the violin at your age, and I was probably the only kid who listened exclusively to classical music. You're probably a bit of a nerd, but so what? Even if you don't go on to pursue a career in music, I can promise you that your life will be much richer for having studied music at a young age. I'd love to hear what studies and concertos you're working on at this stage. You're doing great; carry on!
Band was one of my favorite activities in school. It's more than just a class. It's a huge social group. I wish I would have put more into math and science, but band wasn't the reason I didn't. Violin is a good instrument to learn as it applies to many forms of music. There are even a few heavy metal bands that incorporate strings, like Savatage/Trans Siberian Orchestra. One of my big regrets is dropping music when I joined the Army.
