Ok I'm a 12 year old girl and I play the violin. I've been playing for almost 7 years. I'm also in my school orchestra (2nd chair first violin). I practice for two hours everyday and on weekends maybe more. On top of all of that I get straight A's. I want to major in music someday. Do you think I'm overdoing it a little bit?
If you do, well then, u should probably drop something.
If you don't, well then keep at it, 'cause it's always good when you've got something away from school that you enjoy doing.
Also, things WILL get busier the older you get, so, it may get harder and harder to keep everything rolling.
2. keep doing what you are doing, keep working hard and practicing. dont listen to people who tell you to lighten up and "have fun while you are young". thats terrible advise. people who are successful in life have fun all their lives, not just when they are "young". right now you are laying down the foundations for a successful, fullfilling life. and you are doing what you love to do.
3. get the hell off the computer and go practice!!
I too played the violin at your age, and also sat next to the concertmaster. Although my grades were not as good as yours, it's clear that we have a great deal in common.
I think you should be proud of your efforts and accomplishments. I'm assuming you do make some time for other hobbies and recreational activities just to balance your life a bit. But I truly loved the violin at your age, and I was probably the only kid who listened exclusively to classical music. You're probably a bit of a nerd, but so what? Even if you don't go on to pursue a career in music, I can promise you that your life will be much richer for having studied music at a young age. I'd love to hear what studies and concertos you're working on at this stage. You're doing great; carry on!
