A lump on my neck?

I have a small lump..it's probably about the size of a nickle? on the bottom left side of my head, upper neck, sort of behind my ear. and it hurts when i touch it/bump it. it wasnt there before. is it something to be worried about? I don't want to jump to conclusions and assume the worst.
Do you think it's normal?

The fact that its hurts makes me suspicious about it but keep in mind people develop alot of knots on the their necks under the skin. I use to get quite a few and still have one but you cannot see them they are under the skin and you can only feel them if you press down. I ask a navy doc about it and he told me it was nothing to worry about. If it hurts though id maybe see a doc about it.

I've actually had something just like this. Look, i cant tell for your situation (everything differs, ya' know). But for me it was just swollen glands or something, and it went down after about a week. You should go see a doctor though, just to make sure.

I get the same thing sometimes,could be caused by a pinched nerve.That by itself wont cause a lump but,compensating for the discomfort can pull muscles.See a Doc, not a chiropracter.

its probably just a swollen gland and will settle down within a week but if your worried get it checked out.

I have had this too. It goes away and I only notice it sometimes. maybe once ever two years or so. I think it's normal

It could be a sist or something more serious go to a doctor and check it out. Better to be safe than sorry.
