I've always felt that teens and tweens are on the biggest ego trip. They seem to think of themselves as exceptionally wonderful little pretty boys and girls and everyone seems to like them on that tag. I resent them. They get better regard and more love from society than 40 something losers like me. I've never harmed anyone physically or mentally..I've never broken the law and I help whenever I can but I just resent the tweens and teens of the western world for seeming to have it all.
Do you think it's normal?

sound fair enough, the ego in teens and tween as you put it is a pretty big they have alot to live up to in their own circle of friends, did we not all do the same. hey are only young after all , let them have some fun and enjoy the ego trip before they hit 40. Resnetment is number one offender, i would suggest you find what is really the resentment, do you miss being young, would you like to be like them, or alike. Crack on with what you are doing helping others and being honest sounds good to me.
your a good guy, keep it up bro

They tend to be a bit showy at times I think we all do regardless of age. Who doesn't want to be loved by as many people as they can. We have the gift of experience which they have to gain. Don't take age to heart.
i think the hugging part is a little wierd but i git what your saing i hate it wene people touch my face our somthing like that
When you're that age you think you're going to grow up to be a professor or a filmmaker or whatever the hell your little heart desires...I mean, of COURSE it's going to happen...of COURSE you're going to do all the right things and talk to all the right people; you wouldn't screw up; I mean, you're YOU!! It's not as if you're going to f**k up and fall short of anything less than ultra-success. F**king up is for all those other losers; you're a winner; you know exactly what to do. Young people have their dreams, and some of them actually attain them. But either way it's a fun time.
ok I am 18 years old but I totally can relate. I hate it too so much. I think it's the ego behind it that bugs me though. They think (or I can put it fairly: My peers) they are all that and the their shat don't stink. It's because of the media. The media uses young people as an example since they are the fittest and most good looking and the young demographic is the largest and most consumerist. But you have to remember: The media shits on everybody and the young'ns will get theirs
umm... we don't all think were that great. actually, i think that teenagers are being mis-represented in society as ego-tripping hooligans, when there are a lot of us out there who'd rather do the right thing by other people. but i guess this response sort perpetuates the image that we(teenagers), all love ourselves. all i know is that i hope i don't seem like that
Your not alone, the little feckers get on my nerves to. Just who do they think they are going around looking so good and healthy, what have they done to earn all thaqt fun they are having when old farts like you and me have to slog our guts out in some dead end job.

Am i envious of them, too bloody right i am, sadly it's their time and the best time they will have in their lives before their dreams collapse like so many of ours did and they end up stacking shelves at walmart.

I hate to say it but your problem and mine is we can't turn the clock back however much we would like to (and we would)

Kids you go on having fun just don't get yourselves pregnant or addicted there the two fastest ways to shit your dreams down the pan
and cut us oldies a bit of slack when we start moaning because time really does fly and soon we will be dead and you will be the new us.
don't call yourself a loser sir.

what you should understand is that the planet is advancing greatly, and since humans are part of nature, this is reflected in the way us teenagers of the industrialized nations of the earth talk, dress and behave.

this is not just an issue of us being pampered and egotistical. we are indeed lucky to live in such a fantastic time, ripe for evolvement, but at the same time there are biological facts that must be taken into account. we are young and pretty as you said, but not because we decided it, because it's just a natural biological occurrence. also, there is so much knowledge and tools (like the internet) out there, that it's very easy to know what it is that i should do in order to preserve and exploit this beauty as much as i can. why do this? why not indeed. i think beauty helps the experience of the planet as a whole.

don't be angry at pretty and healthy young people. we are here to provide tremendous balance to the earth. believe it or not, we are here to free all of us.

the same to mr. expoguy.

much respect to all of you elders.
Of course, it is your own ego that causes you to resent them, because it feels unvalidated. Drop the ego and your problem is solved.
I think there may be an element of truth to what you say to.

I think younger kids ego's are more 'out there' in that they havnt yet developed all the kinds of tricky strategies that we adults have to hide them.
Althought I'm closer to a teen I believe you 40 year olds are looked up to more but society do not pay attention because teens are here stabbing eachother, trying to get the spotlight etc, there is just no space for decent people. Sometimes I look at my generation and just think what went wrong. I do not know if it's the parents or society, but it is something. Plus all those hormones turns us into talkin babies and emotional freaks.

However I do think the elder generation of teens are much more mature than teens of today.
I'm only 5 years out of my teens but I think you've got it all wrong mate. I doubt anyone except a teen would respect teens as a group more than 40 somethings. This is why teens/tweens get all the attention, for the most part, until they hit 18 or so they need the attention as they are still maturing.

As for them having it all, I am not sure what you mean. The standard of living in the Western World is (generally) going to keep going up. There will be more 'stuff' for kids to have and parents are suckers for getting kids 'stuff' if they can.

As for the ego trips they are on that's just hormones and their brains re-wiring themselves to be adults. And remember some adults have ego trips too, obviously their brains have not been re-wired properly! Plus some teens might have ego trips because in reality they don't know what the hell is happening to their bodies/emotions and are nervous.

At the end of the day if I am on a bus back from work and some kids are being spoilt little brats, or worse being mouthy little darlings I think something that I never think in any other situation. I sit there smugly and am thankful I'm not like that and don't make an idiot out of myself in such a manner. Well, unless I've had one too many a beer ;-)
