I have a really bad fear of monkeys, you know how people get scared to death by pictures from the scary girl from the Exorcist? Well I randomly saw this picture of a monkey, and that's how I felt. I was shaking a lot and it was like I saw a ghost. Are people usually this scared of monkeys? If I had to pick to meet either a monkey or a ghost, I'd pick ghost! And it's not just that the picture of a monkey scared me once, I've always been scared of monkeys.

I went to a monkey forest in Bali once, and these monkeys were shrieking at us the whole time. They demanded we feed them, even jumping on us and pulling the bananas we had out of our hands.
On one occasion I had a pen that I held up to put some notes to paper. One of the monkeys thought it was food and grabbed the pen out of my hand. When he realized it was not food he slapped my hand really hard and growled at me. I was shocked, because this was not the Curious George I read about as a kid. And they smell!
You could not pay me to visit a monkey forest again. My advice is stay away from monkeys.
I heard this story that a monkey tore off someones face, gouged out their eyes, and ate their arms and legs.. DEFINITELY not cute.
