Ok, this had started happing to me like 3rd or 3th grade where at first i could taste blood but i wasnt bleeding at all and in due time it had past until i was in middle school only this time instead of tasting blood i was smelling it and i would look at all my friends and ask are any of you guys bleeding they said NO!?...why and i told them cause i smell blood and until this day i still do now in high school.

thats...weird. i knew someone that licked their own blood if he injured himself. i asked him why he did it and he said it was a waste of blood. a little off topic but meh.

What part of the blood are you smelling/tasting? It could be your are smelling the iron in the blood. Maybe it is the salt. If so, think about what other things smell and taste similar. If you are really worried ask a doctor. If you call your doctor you can ask a nurse practitioner for free. They may not be doctors but they have alot of medical knowledge.

Getting a doctor to diagnose you wouldn't be a bad idea, i can see the tasting blood a bit more normal, since certain foods can make your mouth raw (owwie) and if when that happens to me i often get the taste of blood (mainly if i eat something really hot, and get burned a bit, but the salt from something like chips will do it for me too)

I can't taste blood when it's no there but I can smell it if someone is bleeding. I wonder if your senses are just more tuned to it, you can taste it because it's pumping through you and you can smell it just because it's around. It's a little unusual but not completely abnormal.

Sometimes I can taste blood when I bite the inside of my cheek, but it isent bleeding.

It doesn't sound bad, but seriously, something could be wrong with your brain that would make it sense the same thing even when its not present.

People with brain tumors often smell and taste the same thing... usually burning, but it can be other smells and tastes as well.

I advise you to go get checked out.

hmm. Maybe your nose or mouth could be bleeding during those times. Do you pick your nose a lot?

that's not really weird. i can taste blood, and smell it. it smells like rust and salt. *shivers* it's yucky.

i find it surprising that u've had this sensation since grade school and have never asked a doctor. i'd advise u to see a doctor, it could be a medical problem. you shouldn't neglect things like this.
