I think this happens because with it being late at night and in bed, there are a few factors in play.
You have no sensory input, it is probably quiet and pitch black, you are lying still in bed... so your brain has a lot of "RAM" available to play around with memories.
If you think this is an issue, I would recommend listening to the radio while you sleep. But other than that, I do not think you are abnormal.
