I have had this numerous times in my life. It could be one of two things - Sleep Paralysis (in that case, get checked out as you could have narcolepsy or another sleep disorder you are unaware of) or it could be a demonic attack. I know that may sound nuts to some, but when I first became a Christian and the firs time my son EVER prayed - I had the same things - but I saw the black figures. I was attacked, suffocated, could not scream and could not breathe until it let up - I felt pure evil around me and it physically hurt. It is horrible. Call on the name of Jesus and it will be gone instantly - or even think the name if that is all you can do. If you have recently been involved in any type of activity such as: witchcraft, reading horoscopes, ouija boards, or any other experimentation you have let that into your life or a family member has. Get rid of all that stuff - I have not had that in over a year 1/2. Good luck - take care.

Thanks, but I'm not or have ever been into witchcraft or the other things you listed..horoscopes yes, but I doubt that could set 'evil sprits' to attack me when I sleep. But calling out Jesus's name does help. :]

It's just happened to me. I'm Lebanese christian and my mum said it is an evil angel. Somebody has put a curse on me. You have to pray and go to church. It was the most scariest thing I've ever experienced. I full felt my bed go down. Then it lay on top of me covering my mouth for fifteen seconds. Then went away. I tried screaming. Nothing would come out. Full body weight on top of me. It has happened to my mate also and he told me about it. I thought he was insane. But now that's its happened to me and I can see it happens to other people. I believe it is evil angels.

I have this sometimes too! It's called sleep paralysis, you can read a lot about it on Wikipedia. However, it happens mostly if you are lying on your back so if you are sleeping on a couch now it might happen more. It usually happens if you're stressed or taking certain medications, but most people supposedly have it once or twice in their life. It's pretty scary though!

U experienced an out of body experience when ur body is asleep but ur mind is wide awake, u can't move. I learned to control it but it help 100% of the time when I pray for it to stop. Look it up(;

You have sleep paralysis for sure. Next time it happens just relax, keep counting, and concentrate on waking up. Try to avoid sleeping on your back. Stress plays a major part in sleep paralysis. Some people find that saying a prayer or asking god for help while you're in sleep paralysis seems to help. Good luck!

I've had the same thing. It happens often to me, it's really scary sometimes. My brain's wide awake, but it's like my body's still sleeping. Mostly this happens right after an unpleasant dream, and I desperately want to wake up. I don't think it's sleep paralysis with me though, since that's obviously uncommon. But to me it happens about once a week at least.

I've sorta felt like that before. I've had dreams where I feel like someone's grabbing me and beating me against the bed, then I desperately want to wake up. I haven't had that dream in a long time though.

Yeah, you might be having nightmares while waking up paralized. It's very natural, but in case it really is a big bad man you'd better sleep with mom.

It does happen while laying on your stomach. It just happened to me. I felt my bed go down next to me. Then it lay on top of my covering my mouth. You people try to cover it up with logical reasoning. Why can't you just accept that it was something to do with evil spirits. Pray and church will keep these things away.

I had something very similar happen to me but much more than 2 or 3 times and its beginning to happen more often and I do not always sleep on my back, mostly on my side.
The first time it happened was a few years ago back in high school back at home which was about 7 or 8 years ago. After high school I moved out but recently moved back in a few months ago. After my boyfriend passed away this past March I decided to book a flight for california for a month to get away from everything for a bit. One of the nights out there while sleeping I felt like I was being pushed down into the bed, almost felt like someone had their body wrapped around me and wouldn't let me move and I was trying to scream but it was all muffled and then I started to feel like I was suffocating. I remember telling myself to just open my eyes, wake up! Finally i felt a release and I woke up groaning loudly like I was in pain, my friend who was sleeping in the same bed as I was awake at this point trying to comfort me...Last week I was asleep in my bed, now back at home, and I waking up in a dream from a dream and seeing my boyfriend who had passed away, kneeling besides my bed saying slowly "Katie, wake up...they are behind you, wake up Katie" I felt confused. Why was Tristan here? Why didn't any of this feel real? Who did I feel behind me that was beginning to wrap themselves around my body, making me feel terrified? Then out of nowhere I felt like I was almost wrestling this person under my blankets and sheets, I felt myself wanting to cry and scream but nothing was coming out. Finally I open my eyes (in the dream) and see this old lady and am finally able to wake up but wake up screaming "WHAT DO YOU WANT!?" it was terrible. That is the first time out of all the times of that happening to me that I finally saw something or someone scary. I know it sounds like bullshit and you are probably thinking maybe its because I watched a horror movie or my imagination but I'm telling you this felt so real. I could feel this person as you would feel someone touching you when your awake, I could feel the evil, them sucking all the energy out of me.
I have been spending most of my time downstairs and my bedroom is right above it. Today my brothers friend (who is in the other bedroom upstairs hanging out) and myself both heard a something crash upstairs, like something glass had fallen and broken. I thought maybe he dropped something up there but a few minutes later he starts calling down the stairs asking if I had broken something. WE did some investigating but found nothing...
Anyway, this has been going on for years but it is becoming worse, at one point I accepted that I had night terrors and was too embarrassed to speak about it but lately things have been becoming more strange in my house and with my sleep so I plan on going to a nearby church with a few crosses and having them blessed or something and hanging them around the house. I'm not saying its definitely an evil spirit or whatever but it is definitely not paralysis so what else could it be? I recommend you do the same
