Fetishes are fun, but...

Am I crazy for thinking that a fetish becomes unhealthy when it crosses the line from play, to the only manner in which to become aroused or attain orgasm?

I have some friends who are heavily into certain fetishes, with which I have no concerns. (Not scat or asphyxiation or anything disgusting and/or dangerous like that) What I find problematic is that their sex ALWAYS involves their fetishes. I am a big fan of sex play, because changing things up is definitely fun. That being said, I can always go for a good, old fashioned f**k. There is nothing else like animalistic, toe-curling, breath-siezing sex.

Is it abnormal to think regular sex (and I mean regular not involving props, extra people, roleplaying, etc) should be capable of satisfying a person? Is it normal for someone to NEED fetish/etc play to enjoy themselves?

the answer is yes it is completely normal for people to need a fetish to get off dont ask me why i dont know but you get them and they never go away and it happens to tons like billions of people so it has to be normal right?

Actually, we need to seperate terms here. A kink is normal, where one has a preference for a certain kind of sexual activity. A fetish is abnormal as it is defined as something that is absolutely needed for one to become arroused. The former is healthy as it merely adds to the excitement, while the latter is unhealthy as it deeply restricts the sexual experience and can prevent one from getting into a committed long-term relationship.

The VAST majority of people have kinks, not fetishes.
