You made the best decision. You only live life once - why spend a large majority of it unhappy with someone because you two have nothing in common'

Your decision was fine. If you can't seem to relate or talk witt him, then what's the point' I'm pretty sure that a bunch of better looking people might be interested & are just around you. :)

yes, do not get a boyfriend for the sake of just getting one. it is important to follow your heart. Since both of you cannot link and connect, i see no point of trying to salvage the relationship and letting it continue. The relationship will sour and both of you will suffer. so you did the right choice of turning him down. :)
all i could say is, you are still young, and there are still many opportunities. Do not try to get a boyfriend so fast and overlook others that will perhaps suit you even better.
Your mr right will appear soon enough!

If you can't connect, then the relationship would fail anyway.

hmmmm. Sounds to me like you are a very shy and quiet person, maybe not around the friends you already have, but around people you don't know. You have to remember you can't settle, I am going through exactly what you are going through, and it's very hard, but I think you should try to find someone who is opposite of you. You need someone who talks a lot, and so do I. LOL.
