Well, being a 36 year old woman and 99 pounds isn't what i call "lucky".
I am 5feet 5inches tall and i am a rail, I hate food i have no appetite and i look awful. I don't have an eating disorder, I know I'm skinny and i hate it. But, i hate food even more. I realy don't know why this is and i wish there was something medically that could stimulate my appetite.
I have been thin all my life but this is rediculous, everyone said that i wouldn't complain after i hit 35 because my hormones would slow down and i would gain weight, well, I'm still waiting.
Does anyone have the same problem or know someone who has gone through this? If so I'd love to hear from you.
And yes, I am complaining, being underweight is just as hard as being overweight.

I'm not making a joke when I say this, so don't take it that way. Well, first I think you should have your thyroid checked. If that's fine, then you may want to consider a more homeopathic treatment. Women and men in similiar situations as your own have benefited from Marijuana therapy. No joke! It stimulates the appetite big time. It's even being used on some Anorexia patients. Just a suggestion.

Don't you ever get hungry, get hunger pains?? Dizzy, or nauseous from not eating?

How can you hate "all" foods. After all there's all kinds of really good tasting foods.

Perhaps you've got something wrong with your taste buds?

I have been told abou this therapy you speak of, believe me i've been told about it, I'm just afraid to try it. I have had my TSH cecked and it came back in the normal range but I also have to get my T3 and T4 checked and a TSO and then i have to have an ultrasound on my neck. So i am in the process right now of checking my thyroid. Thankyou for your suggestion, It helped.
well i don't hate food in general but i hate the way food makes me feel, physically.
I do get hungry sometimes, but i can go 2 full days without food and then force myself to eat some toast or something, I do crave greasy foods every once in a while. But i pay for it. I have had allergy tests done to see if i had food allergies because that would make sense as to the utter sickness i feel after eating. But it came back unconclusive.
I went to see a shrink, normal.
I'm in the process of having my thyroid checked right now. It's all a mystery.
depends on what you are eating maybe. try to check out different stuff. for example, japanese type of food is quite nutricious, very low in salt and fat, which are things that usually make people feel bloated and strange feeling in hands, like swollen.
do not get confused with chinese food, which is completely different!!! if your thyroid gland and other endocrine glands are ok, then maybe you need to see a psychiatrist. don't get me wrong is not like you are crazy, but you might need the help. going to the psychiatrist is NOT being a basket case.

You need nutrition in the form of three balanced meals a day! Have you not heard of the food pyramid?!

You might want to see a doctor about this. Or a therapist.

heya! it sounds like you have an eating disorder , sorry if im wrong but my friend went through this and it turned out she was suffering eating disorder! to stay on the safe side go and see your gp , believe me you will get through it! gd luck

i am a female im not fat and im not skinny, but i hate it when women eat salad and alot of healthier foods becasue they thik their fat, for god sake just relax and eat whatever you want to eat at the time you are hungry.

i'm 5'5 as well, but thankfully i'm heavier than you (103) and i love food. i eat it at every opportunity. but my problem is, i can't seem to gain weight.
if you eat it's fine, but maybe you can try those liquid nutrion snacks to help supplement your diet. look after yourself, watching what you eat is a good thing, but not eating is going to ruin your body as much as overeating.
you want gain weight,right. smoke some reefer and eat peanutbutter sandwiches.don't think of the food as food, think of it as life give nuttients, eat or die. PLEASE EAT PEASE EAT

to all you jerks who are telling this person to just, "stop it" or "eat...duh." did you even read the damn thing? youre the idiots!! i understand because for some reason i have a hard time eating and i am loosing weight quickly. you quite obviously have never had to deal with anything you cant control. youre one of those people who tell suicidal people to just snap out of it before they go kill theirself. i hope someone treats you with the same respect when the tables are turned..ASSES!
Try drinking protien shakes... You can get lots of nutrition and calories quickly, without too much eating.
ignore the ignorant people who tell you that you just need to "eat a cheeseburger" and that you're just doing it because you think you're too fat. It's just as dumb as telling an overweight person who can't stop eating to "put down the cheese burgers!"- yeah, real helpful. It's really offensive.

I have the same problem and NO ONE understands it! Food just isn't appetizing. I've forgotten to eat for two days as well. I'll forget to eat unless I'm around other people who happen to be eating or who will remind me, or if my stomach starts burning a hole through itself with acid.

I've been underweight my whole life and have been on 3 medications to try to stimulate appetite and nothing has worked. After that, a doctor recommended that I see a specialist. The specialist confirmed that it is in fact NOT anorexia (though it's a misnomer- the medical term for absence of appetite is "anorexia", but in fact anorexics do have an appetite but try to supress it and deny themselves food). The specialist had me wright down what I ate each day and I had to eat a certain number of calories each day.

And honestly, the only thing to EVER give me an appetite was marijuana. I would smoke (maybe once a week or a few times a month), feel hungry, and then eat as much as I could. It is illegal, but I felt like it was worth the risk. I feel like I should be able to enjoy food every so often. It helped me gain 10 pounds. There is an appetite-enhancing medicine called "Marinol" which is made with synthetic THC, but I doubt you'd be able to get a Rx for it...doctors are very worried about prescribing it because of the "pot stigma" and their reputation. Usually it's reserved for cancer and aids patients on their death beds. As for the other medicines I've tried for appetite- Megace, Remeron, and Zyprexa- they all had horrible side effects and I would NOT recommend them at all. In fact, "enhanced appetite and weight gain" are only side effects of these drugs- their main purpose is not for appetite enhancement! Zyprexa is used mainly to trat schitzophrenia, and it made me feel really dizzy and out of it. it was scary.

So I'd recommend marijuana. I know it sounds weird, but it works. And I'm not a druggie. I don't drink and I don't smoke cigarettes. I use pot as medicine (I wouldn't have though I'd be a pot smoker!). I've pretty much stopped now that I've gained 10 pounds, but if I start to lose weight I will smoke once or twice a week and try to load up on food.
I also recommend ensure- you've probably been told this before. I drink at least two Ensures every day. At least you'll get 350 calories from one drink, and if you drink 2-3 a day it will at least keep you from losing any weight.
