Having feelings for people online

I have a lot of internet buddies and friends, some of them women, but recently I've been having feelings for most of them. I get to know them and I want to be with them. Right now if anyone of them asked me to date them I would, except for the ones that are under age, even though they don't live anywhere near me. so I ask, is this normal?

let me tell you about internet relations---been there done that---people can say anthing they want and make you believe they are something they're not. they can be one way by phone, letters and web cam and act different around you with annoying little habits --they can hide bi-polar behavior or bi-sexuality-- you must meet them before anything because you're falling for a dream, not real I'm telling you..I wasted 2 years with one man--never dated because I fell in love with his mind, with him before we ever met--6 months of dating him, a marriage proposal and then in a blink of an eye he was gone and left me with Herpes 2 --- meet them way before you get too involved...

It's normal if you don't socialize much offline totally.

I've had several wonderful relationships with men I met online. At least 2 of those relationships became OFFLINE and semi-permanent (2 years and 4 years). Both relationships ended very well on good terms with no bridges burned. I think getting to know their personality first was a huge key to that. I relish the memories and look forward to the next man I meet through this mediary.

I met the love of my life on World of Warcraft....which I know is really geeky but hey, it happened. I've never been so happy, going on three years now and happier every day. I never want anyone else as long as I live! I guess I got lucky, though.

I think it's normal to develop a fascination for people online. It's pretty anonymous, and you only have to disclose what you want others to know, so the dream is usually far greater than the reality. Keep it in check or you'll come off as desperate and/or pathetic.

OP here.
The other day I said I had an interest in her and wanted to know if we could meet up sometime in the future. She said its a good possibility.
That's some good sounding advice. I intended to date her before I just jump into a serious relationship.

Sorry it didn't work out with her. Who knows how things could go in the future though. As Anywho and Jen have shown, meeting someone online can be a great way of meeting a likeminded person. I also agree with Leahquestions on how people can still be very different in real life.

Online, we tend to build up a picture of how a person is like. They can become a certain way in our mind and this can be misleading because it's easy to cultivate an online persona that seems genuine enough (especially with the comfort relative anonymity brings) when the truth is far from what we've imagined. So caution is good...but then, even knowing people "IRL" isn't a surefire way to fully know someone, is it?

It's completely normal to have feelings for people online. It happens ALL of the time!

I don't think I've ever had romantic feeling for people online but I know I've romanticized them in my head and wondered what it would be like if we met in person.
I used to play World of Warcraft a lot and I would often have long vent convos with people. It would be nice to consider them freinds but even a guildy or 'raiding relationship' is barely an acquaintance.
