I was the same way at your age, I would listen to depressing music and cry out my rage and then listen to happier tunes when I was happy, etc... Not much has changed in that aspect, music is the great equalizer. Even though this is a great way to deal at the time, it seems like it isn't really helping much in the means of an outlet. You whistle a happy tune, block out reality, and move on with a few more pounds of pressure under your cork. I'm a bottler also. One day that cork will pop all the way if you don't find some form of release. You can either let out the steam gradually or in spurts but something needs to happen before you completly blow! I think that without music we all are void, but it seems as though you are using it as a drug. Some things can't stay supressed. Find another outlet and keep the music flowing! You seem perfectly normal to me!

Good Luck!

i suppose its healthy because you aren't killing anything or hurting anybody too much, but maybe how you judge your reaction to things is off, maybe certain things don't bother you enough to make you keep thinking about them after 20mins of musique.... or maybe you should seriously spend a bit of time thinking about your issue, just a good 5 minutes figuring out whats bothering you, solve the issue in your head or if it needs some solving, and then just continue to listen to some good tunes. i mean don't pent up emotions but don't go all crazy on people.

you have a very healthy way to deal with emotions. when your depressed its very hard to think logically or find a way out. if your in a good mood try to look back, be optimistic, and find a solution to your woes. dont sit around, letting it build up is self destructive. find someone you can talk to and many times someone elses perspective on things can cheer you up and think in a different way. :) live and love

Listening to music can work as a kind of escapism from the problem that is making you upset. The only thing you can do to make it better is to face it head on even if that hurts a lot, because hiding from the problem's only gonna make it worse

When I get sad I don't listen to music that much, I just shove my feelings down inside of me.
You aren't alone.

of all the coping mechanisms to choose, music isn't a bad one, but if you really feel it's a problem start trying to go periods of time without music: tell yourself that no matter what goes wrong one day you won't use music to try and escape from it, and then maybe try no music for a couple of days, then a week, ect, ect.

you seem to have a high level of self awareness, which is very healthy and unusual for your age.

Beyond that, I can't give you any useful advise, other than to say whatever you do, don't become like flikr. he's a complete basket case.
