How to deal with dating disappointment?

I'm a member of a dating site. As you know, people like to show others their best picture (certainly on a site like this). I'm no exception and I suppose the other people on this dating site aren't either. So everyone's showing his/her best picture to others. Therefore, it's likely that it'll be somewhat of a disappointment when you meet each other for real. How exactly should I deal with this?

Don't put your best picture out there. Put a picture of you being you up, and search for the same. That's probably the best way to date, in my opinion.

Go into the date with an open mind. However, you should talk to person that you are interested in before hand. Tell the person to show you a picture of what she looks like. I think that if you can meet a person who is honest about their appearance then she is a catch.

When you meet them just say, "I didn't recognise you! How long ago was that photo taken?"

Only joking ;o)

Don't worry if you don't like them you can always leave and remember to stay safe. I read about one girl who invited a guy from a dating site in for coffee and he raped her. Apparently these sites don't vett the members!

Stay safe!!

Haha, I know people who have used dating sites and ended up making a meet and greet plan and when they got there and saw "what" they were meeting they got out of there as fast as possible. Haha.

"How long ago was that picture taken?!?!"

Expect the worst. If your expectations are as low as humanly possible, how can it be any worse than what you thought of it.
Even "if" by normal standards, its a horrible date, if you thought the worst, how can you be dissapointed if it wasn't the worst?

Basically, always carry low expectations to not feel let down.
