I am not at all socialist

At the risk of sounding a bit anarchist (please don't get hung up on that term--it just means someone who believes in a government that is very minimal to absent), I am not a proponent of socialist programs. The government-funded safety nets that bail out businesses when they fail and people when they bankruptcy are objectionable to me. Welfare, Medicare, and social security will also find no love from me. It isn't about the money. I'd be willing to voluntarily continue funding such programs, but to be forced into it--to have it be a mandated activity--makes it an involuntary socialist enterprise. National healthcare? No thanks.

Young people often call such anti-socialist and anti-communist ideas heartless. I call it proper. It's how this country started. Older people often understand me.

How does this compare to you? If you consider it normal, tell me about your free-market supporting ideals. If you don't consider it normal, please let me know about your communist ways so that I may contrast myself with them.
Do you think it's normal?

I am a die hard capitalist myself. However, you need some balance to ensure that the gap between rich and poor don't grow ever wider. Otherwise you'll end up in a situation where people are either filthy rich or dirt poor.
So the scale now skips straight from conservatism to communism?

UR A SMART KID.
yeah, the current situation (in the US, anyway) is a combined result of deregulation in financial markets, too much wealth concentration, and short sighted sensibility on the part of our leaders at every level.

now some in the US congress want further tax cuts and deregulation.

Good idea. I'm an alcoholic. Give me that bottle of JD. Goddammit I'll just drink myself sober.
lol
your a person with probably enough money to pay for health care and food and etc. so of course you dont care.

government programs are helpful so that people who dont have that don't die when they get sick, and they dont starve if they lose their jobs

so your just a lazy pathetic person who doesn't know what it's like to be poor. go to africa and be born their with your parents having died of aids and eating garbage, while lazy losers like you grow up with opportunity

Your fucking right. Assholes like this should be forced to see the other side of the issue. Strip them naked and leave them on the streets see how you like them apples.
P.S. There is no such thing as a "free market" in America.
The problem with US investment banks is the lack of regulation.

Oh yes, heaven forbid I not be a communist. I'm not wealthy by any means. I just have enough integrity to deal with my own problems instead of feeling entitled to programs that serve to protect me from my own bad decisions in life. We live in such a fucking bubblewrapped society. It's sick, and many of you show me how pathetically dependant we've all become on handouts.
The richest country in the world has no right not to provide "hand outs" to its citizens when they throw trillions away on defense contractors, wars and tax cuts for the corporations. The gap between the wealthy and the poor is inexcusable. While some struggle from pay check to pay check others cruise in ships around there own islands. It is high time to initiate some form of dekulakization.

"government programs are helpful so that people (...) dont starve if they lose their jobs"

I am sorry, but if one loses jobs, it simply means that he is not as competent as others who don't. This is HIS fault, not the country's, so the state has NO responsibility to help manage his incompetency.

"so your just a lazy pathetic person who doesn't know what it's like to be poor... lazy losers like you grow up with opportunity"

If he is really a lazy ass, he WILL be poor, guaranteed. Inversely, if you strive, you will be rich. Pls don't bullsh*t that poors always stay poor. YOu are in USA, and you do have the chance. But if you dont cherish it, TOO BAD. You deserve a miserable ending then.
No one will forcefully grab $ from you, but one must assume TOTAL responsibillity to oneself. This is the ideal society for me.
I can't f**king agree with you more, man!!!

In Canada so many ppl just rant about all the lefty bullsh*t like:

Poors naturally have reasons, riches are (by definition) filthy
blacks are (always) innocent, whites are born to be bad
Women are oppressed, men are guilty
when you are loser, you can blame the society, blame the school system, blame the gov, blame the cops... except blaming yourself being a loser
fu.ck capitalism spread the wealth
@: Bazaza
go get a job, loser
The day you work your first job and receive your first real paycheck - just see how much your government is stealing from you.

Read about anarcho-capitalism, libertarianism, and various other forms of state-less capitalism.

Capitalism does fail - when the state over-regulates and "saves" capitalism.
Take a course in political science.

You just assume I haven't. Political science was actually quite fun.
You'd never know it reading your post.
I studied political science at university whilst I was in high school.
I do not by any means agree with the way the Governments of today are running things.
However, I don't agree with your view either.
Programs such as Medicare and Welfare are not just there to help people who have made the wrong decisions in their lives and thus landed themselves in a position where they need it.
Plenty of middle income and high wealth citizens benefit from these programs as well. Particularly from Medicare.
I am a student, I also have medical issues relating to things that did not come about out of choices I made. Without a national health system and welfare system, I'd not be living the life I am today.

The main thing to remember when one gets into politics is balance.
There is no point crapping on with some bullshit if it's not going to be balanced.
And although your views might seem to work well in your head, they are most certainly not suited to today's society.
There will never be a political system that will please everyone. So I suggest you suck it up sweetheart, and get on with your life.

Cheers.
