When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look, but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now. The child has grown, the dream is gone.
Do you think it's normal?

Nice friends you got.
Careful with that axe, Eugene.
Someday you're going to grow up and hurt a lot of people. You're not normal at all. You're a freak child.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell.....
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears, wish you were here.
The original post is Pink Floyd lyrics and I couldn't resist jumping on the bandwagon. Don't worry. I'm just a middle-aged 'Floyd Freak, gently insane but harmless.(Sorry for the folly, Webmaster.)
I like short poems. THANK YOU. Most poems are dumb as shit. That one was good.

Okay, clearly this is lyrics from pink floyd, and not giving the band credit is plagiarism, you sick fuck. Too bad this is anon, or you would be getting your ass sued.
Anonymous (Story Author)
Yes most bands do indeed sue everyone who quotes them. This is how the music industry works now that them thar interwabs have pirated the soundtracks!
Anonymous
Yeah, you sure know your copyright laws, buddy. Look, you can't sue for posting song lyrics on a website.
(thinking back, that this began as a Pink Floyd appreciation thread, shakes head at the kerfuffle and leaves)

actually, since this person did not state where the lyrics came from, they were claiming it as their own, whether or not they realized it. Clearly none of you have done a research project with in text citations and read about the plagairism.
Clearly, judging from the title and original post the author knows his source very well and was just being coy. No harm done! Furthermore, this is not a research project, only an informal forum. CLEARLY by your statement, you assume we are all dolts. You show up to put us cretins in our place and sour the mood. Do you do this at parties?
Anonymous
Oh, then obviously you've done your research.

Come on, you CAN'T sue for this. Ever heard of Fair Use?
Anonymous
Just knowing a source is not enough unless you let others know what it is. And while I am not the one who originally pointed this out, I will answer JES's question. I don't do this at parties. I don't go to parties. Fair use is for commenting on the original work, criticizing it, or making a parody. None of these was done; it was just quoted. The only other defense is that the post is not seen by enough people to make it worth citing properly, or that they cannot be easily identified.
Yes, that sounds sensible. I don't want to beat a dead horse so I'm gonna move on.

Hey you know what's funny? When TV shows quote songs and don't cite the source and don't get sued because no one in their right mind could possibly care.
^ That sounds like the de minimus factor, or whatever it is called. If the instance is fleeting and unimportant to the story, then it does not qualify as copyright infringement. If they play songs, they do site them at the end. Other TV shows pay to be allowed to play parts of songs, or get permission from the artist as a free plug.
^(peeks in and smiles amicably at him)
^To anonymous. Enough already!! No harm done so drop it!!! Thank You!!!!!!!

Bleh, copyrights are only infringed in commercial usage.
