I care more about animals than children?
Ever since I was little I've always loved animals, and sometimes (when I was younger) I had the thought that I liked them more than I like humans. I have many friends who I am close to now, but when I was younger (like 8-9) I was very shy and preferred to be alone, or with my cats.
Anyway I realised recently that when I watch an advert on TV about donating money to a particular charity to help children in third world countries, I see the pictures of these kids, and I don't really think about it. However, if an advert about adopting a dog that has been treated badly comes on (like a pet sanctuary ad) I often find myself in tears seeing the sad looks in their eyes and hearing their stories.
Is it odd that I care more about animals than children?

I love children, especially girls. In general though, not caring about humanitarian efforts like that is very normal, I wouldn't worry about it.

I care more for animals than children too. I don't see anything wrong with that.
