EVer since I was little, whenever my step-dad got mad with me, he'd get right in my face and yell. I would always break down and cry like crazy. It's just that it scared me so much. But I was little then.

I still cry though.
Today I asked my fencing coach how to do something and he got pissed at me and yelled at me. He told me to watch someone else do it. But I said I still didnt understand. So he got even more mad, he got right in my face and yelled at me that I wasn't paying attention and then he finally showed me how to do it. I ended up breaking down and crying like crazy. He was so mean! He's usually never mean. It's just that he really reaally scared me and I ended up crying again, just like when I was little. I feel like a major baby, but it really did scare me.
IIN???

I know how you feel about crying when being yelled at. Though I don't always show it on the outside, I am crying on the inside. I've always been this way.

I have a terrible time because I work in a call center and some days are great but other days I get people who yell and scream at me and I have a terrible time of it. I had simular experiences growing up to what the author of this thread had plus I was yelled at and beat up at school on a regular basis. I know it doesn't make any sense but when people yell at me, it's like I expect to be hit or beaten up. Maybe it is just that it brings back bad memories but I keep getting told to get over it and that is easier said than done. So I really understand where you are coming from and crying is more than normal.

I tend to tear up when people criticize me or when people tell me I'm done something wrong in a aggressive way. I'm a big wuss... but I think it's normal.

Well, I found out the sucky truth last night. He's bi-polar. At least I understand now. That's why he ogt so pissy when I didnt even do anything to him.

It simply depends. I don't agree with the teacher/student situation because it is an abuse in authority even if the student is gone. I do know that people can love each other in spite of age differences or any other barriers between them.

Will i once got in trouble with my teacher he told me to sit down in his office closes the door and started treating me like a 5 years old child he started shouting at me. he was American so you how angry those people can Get. I was really angry because he was asking me things but did not want answer he ask me something and when i wanna answer he tells me not to talk back to him. i got to the point were i couldn't take it and felt like crying. but i held my self.

Did he apologise? Things like this make me very angry because it's so easy to take things out on someone and shout them down, but it's hard to build up confidence.

He needs to chill. Maybe he had a particularly bad day, but still, he's a teacher; he should know better than that.

And yeah, it's normal because being yelled at is horrible. Especially in front of others :(

Maybe you can talk to a counselor about your reaction but really to be a bit more assertive, but your reaction is not exactly inappropriate either. Your dad and this coach have major anger issues, and screaming like that in your face is abusive and outrageous.

lol..you don't like it when people yell at you like beast:P

It's normal, it's just that you are too emotional.
You just don't like being yelled at which is fine.

Well I can't think of a way to control it though

That's happened to me a lot in the past, like being shouted at by teachers because they thought I was too lazy to do the work, when I actually had learning difficulties. Even kids would shout stuff at me and tease me, because they thought I was weird and stupid. In one of my bad memories, a boy screamed in my face and I burst into tears. But these emotions can't be controlled so easily. It's just that some of us are more sensitive than others and also are easily emotionally hurt, and more likely to take everything very seriously. It might even be an anxiety disorder or something similar. But there will always be others like yourself who is just as (or even more) sensitive as you are.

I get really upset too, I'm not a cry baby, but when I've had a bad day, or I'm just nervous, and people yell at me. I cry too, I usually cover it up pretty well though. You're totally not a cry baby, you're just a little sensitive is all:)

When people yell at me I stay calm and difuse the situation well, and then everything is fine. then later I go and cry like a baby.

You might even think of it as a good thing. It's better to be sad and cry than to get angry and yell back, that never did anybody any good.
