I bought the rat because I get lonely in my apartment alone. Me and my little albino female rat, Karam, have bonded quite well and spend a lot of time together. She really needs attention all the time. So I decided another rat would be like another friend, so I bought a colored rat that died a week later. The causes? No one knows. I was bummed out, and Karma must have been sad to have witness death so young. I had plans for speeding on some Adderall and Dexies, which are D-R Amphetamines. So I had Karma on my shoulder when I began to crush up the pills, and let her lick the powder off of my finger tips and from her nose. I even gave her a pinch, giving her a total of probably 2.5mg-3mg of amphetamines. Very quickly she became very hyper and took to agility. She became far more playful toward me, spending a lot of lime scurrying around my face giving me kisses and then speeding off! When I put her back in her cage, she was hopping and dancing all around, and then began reorganizing her cage completely. It was too cute. She was buzzing on amphetamines and I'm sure she was loving it, too! Otherwise, why would she take it a second time with me? Is it normal that I share my drug recreation with my little furry pet rat?
Your pet was not "dancing" or "having a good time"... its body is reacting in an alarming way to show you that what you agve it is not good!
If you truly love your pet do not give it drugs or booze. If you want entertainment from your pet give it lots of love and attention, treats and toys and nothing more.
HOnestly people that do this to animals need to dealt with jail time.
i'm just worried that if you ever kick the drugs, your rat will have to go through withdrawal, which would be unfair to the rat.
You might want to book the emergency services first though.
That alone is strange, but giving speed to a rat? That is not only messed up, but considering that this is a pet that you clearly love, didn't you consider that it might be really bad for her? How would you feel if Karma overdosed and it was you that killed her. Its pretty irresponsible.
I also think it's pretty cute.
I'd say that it's a bad idea, since drugs cause brain damage, especially if the organism is young, such as your rat. Damaged memory and learning may also interfere with her emotional development. The bonding that you two had during the drug experience may not be worth the long-term damage in emotional memory, which may cause less bonding. Also, while it may not seem like anything to you, having brain damage can really change her life.
Not to mention the possibility of overdose.
Have fun with her, she sounds like a good pet. If you do it again though, just make sure it isn't a dangerous dose, and, like I said, it would be much less bad if she did it at an older age.
