I get really emotional around girls....

Every time I'm around girls that i like, i get emotional, not like sad or moody, but like when i talk to them my legs start to shake and i get really nervous, I just found out that this girl I liked was already dating someone, and i just got really sad and.. what do you call it, "Gave up on her" I didn't want to try to impress her anymore,so I stopped liking her. Is being emotional around girls normal?
