I had a dream once when i was around 10 years old in which not only did things seem disturbingly scary and real, but I physically felt, heard, and saw everything i experienced in this dream. In this dream I woke in a forest that i didnt recognize and I came across an abandoned decrepit house. I entered it and was surrounded by cells containing various disturbing creatures and people. Being shocked, I backed into one of these cells and many human hands grabbed and writhed on my body and i will never forget waking up and truly feeling it as though the hands were really there. I was paralyzed for about 5 min after the dream. I've heard of things called night terrors and what not but i don't know if this would be classified as such. I would have to say it was the most terrifying thing i have experienced and as far as I know it seems unique. Please tell me, was this experience normal, and has anyone had anything similar???
Do you think it's normal?

Your body releases some kind of chemical while you are dreaming so that you don't thrash around and hurt yourself. That's the paralysis. As for the dream, I'm not so sure about that. It's normal to have dark dreams every once and a while. It's probably relevant to your waking life somehow. Look up 'Dream Dictionary' in Google and look up the specific elements of your dreams. It can be very revealing.
