I am a christian and i think that people who believe in other religions (including atheism) are wrong and are sinners because that is the truth and god has told us so. I hate them all and I don't think us going to war with them is wrong becasue they anger god and they deserve to go to hell.
It has just started worrying me though that there are millions of people from other religions who believe their god has told them the same things about me, and though i know I am right because my god is real surely they think so too?
Is it normal to think this?
and to any christians out there where have i gone wrong, why doesn't it make sense to me that my god is real when the others aren't.
When you realise that there's really no reason why goblins and fairies and santa claus and god should exist, and that humans are really quite insane and will believe and create many magical but ultimately false stories.
And by the way, I think some people do have some incredible experiences, anyone whos had weird dreams, LSD , sleep disorders, schitzophrenia,... Will know that our brains are perfectly capable of giving us amazing experiences, but we have to sort out which are 'real' and which aren't.
Actually i read this article arguing that drugs and various religius rituals fufill the same needs... I don't think there was really much to look at but I know cambridge uni is doing some tests on religious people so it could be interesting to see what happens to a brain when people have a 'religious experience'.
LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR, NIGGER!
the only reason we celebrate christmas and easter when we do is because they used to be pagan festivals, coincidence? of course not, its the best way to convert people, just change their already existing festivals into your own! it seems to me that throughout history religion has been used as a system of control. Romans, first of all tried persecuting christians, they realised it wasn't working so what do they do? take over it! Henry VIII wanted to divorce his wife when the pope refused, what does he do? creates the church of England, conveniently enough with himself as head of the religion! when there were no scientific explanations for things, what was the answer? religion of course! never mind the fact the church was more powerful than the state and milked as much money as they could out of everyone using fear tactics, nope, this "benevolent god" must have loved that.
the bible when it comes down to it, as already said, is 2000 years old, in fact way over. many stories, particularly in the old testament, were taken straight from ancient islamic and muslim folk stories, and shock horror!!! directly from other religious stories from lesser known religions! still not convinced that the bible may not be as honest and truthful as you thought? well explain how some passages have been found inscribed into ancient egyptian tombs and pyramids.
Even though i dont believe in any particular religion or god, i would never say someone else shouldnt, it is after all a form of escapism and release from the world we live in and many people need it for support such as my nan does; but when i hear someone such as yourself claiming that all other religions are wrong and they should be punished for believing them, it honestly makes my skin crawl! this is exactly the kind of dogmatic, unknowing blind devotion that gets people to give their lives in terrorist acts, learn about your religion before you preach it and maybe, just maybe, you might learn one of the most important lessons it is trying to teach you. to be tolerant of others and love them as you would want to be loved yourself, to turn the other cheek and that of forgiveness
I figured out your question a long time age. - The other religions think they are going to heavan and us christians are going to hell because God is tricking them to think his way. What the non-christians believe about their heaven is actually our hell and their hell is actually our heaven. You see there probably isn't as much room in heaven as some people think so God has to do this so the Christians have enough room to spread out in heaven and enjoy the fruits like in the garden of Eden.
"because God is tricking them to think his way."
Why would god be tricking most of humanity into going to hell? I'm afraid this doesn't fit with him being a being worthy of worship, and my experience of god is not like this.
The comments he says afterward I hope are jokey because they don't really make much sense. Besides how do we know it is not the muslims who are right and it is us being tricked? Would it not be best to asses all religions to find the one which appears to fit my experiences best?
Just read the dopes that posted here.
They associate God with only Christians. Don't jews and Muslims also believe in God. The Msulims call him Allah. Same thing.
You see the idiot know it all Random Person makes reference to Christians having the least proof-
As if this "random person" actuallly researched it himself.
What a blatant fool he is.
You see, the Christians, Jews and Muslims all base the early part of their religion on the First testament-in which their belief in God is formed.
"Random person" appears too blinded by his lack of intelligence to realize that he has the least amount of proof than anyone who posted here - except his he doesn't know it- But we all do....
Although i think some people have chosen to be atheist more because they are unable to comprehend anything beyond their everyday experience...
The fact is that non belief should really be the default state, so you can't really attack somone for not believeing in something, You can try and convince somone of something but if anything should be attacked it is belief itself.
Belief meaning an unmovable faith in something is not a good viewpoint, whether or not you think something is true or not to say that no matter what happened you would still believe that that was true is just insane.
For me a proper 'scientific' atheist is convinced that there are no gods but given evidence to the contrary would be convinced the other way, because you see that is what science is. However most scientific atheists would agree that all major religions at least are almost impossibly unlikely to be true, even if they acknowledged that given evidence they could be convinced, this does not show a weakness of their view but rather the strength of their rationality.
whether people are prepared to accept something or not, i think they should never believe it. And every religion I've seen requires belief rather than being able to hold its own, and indeed if it could hold its own the atheists wuold still be right as then it would be science, there would be evidence for it.
I don't know what to do because god has been part of my life forever. Whatever people say it still seems abnormal to me not to believe in god. Its just that if there are all these conflicting religions and they all conflict science then its just... impossible, perhaps I should take a bet so to speak on christianity, other than when it contradicts my morals or the well attested'science.'
God was originally created in the human mind to answer questions. Organized religion was created by man to share beliefs and give a purpose to life.
However, if you really think about it unbiased, the possibility of a creator God is very, very unlikely.
maybe some dont beieve in him cause they have never seen him... thats my reason. and i respect everyones beliefe too. and so should you.
and at the same time it is also a fact that the more people like you we have on this planet, the worse it will get.
lets hope the likes of you wont go to heaven, for then it wont be heaven for long.
Its a SHAME to think this way!!

Is a terrible thing that christianity has so many "denominations" because what that does is : work for someone's own benefit! we have them in the evangelical-protestant, and yes, many are making money out of it. But if i believe in God, i believe He will punish those who are missusing the religion for their own benefit.
The most named fundamentalists lately... Muslims! how come if Allah teached love and peace, why to call for Jihad? No sense, it is working for the benefit of others. This people(fundamentalists from any religion) twist the religion.
So why not to be a little more general. Look at the basics of most religions: love others, dont hurt others, help others. Basically: be a nice person. Just try that and accept other nice persons from other religions. that way everyone will be happy and everyone's god will be happy. Don't you think??
If you ask me: in what is my religion based on, I will tell you: read the 10 commandments!! that will do more than enough!
Religious fervor is ok if it makes you do "good things" but if it makes you hate those who disagree, it is actually worse than anything else in the universe.
Forcing your belief system on others is ridiculous too, which is why i won't say what i believe and why i don't care what you believe.
If Jesus came down from "Heaven" right now, and asked you what religion you were, and you said, "I do not follow any religion. I try and treat people with respect", he would carry you into Heaven with him right then and there.
If you said, "Praise you Lord, I am a Christian and I want to kill anyone who isn't", i think he would grab your cell phone, call his father, and have you vaporized into "Hell" immediately.
(Unless his cell phone worked down here -- depends on his provider.)
