I hate food. I hate eating. I'm on a diet, so maybe that has something to do with it. But I seriously hate food. I don't want to look at it or anything. But sometimes my mom will make me eat and then it just tastes so good I can't stop. Is it normal to hate food? Is it normal to not be able to stop eating? How about both together?

Well, the word "diet" may be the key to why you hate (and yet love) food, as you mentioned. Obviously you are on a diet for a reason (be it to lose weight or other medical reason). Food in this case becomes a "bad thing" and you are telling yourself that you hate it and hate to eat it or even look at it because it is "bad". And yet when you do eat the food you realize how good it tastes so it becomes "good" and then you say ok this is "good" so let me eat more and more of it.

Although it might not be an eating disorder at this stage, it could easily develop into an eating disorder.

To answer your specific questions: I don't think it is normal to hate food. It is also not normal to not stop eating. And likwise, it is not normal for both.

Healthy or not, I am not sure. I often wonder that myself. I am 30, 4 kids, high metabolism, 108 lbs or so. And I have to make myself eat. I just don't get cravings to eat until I get shaky. It sucks, because I don't like to feel
shaky. I try to make sure to take vitamins everyday. and make myself eat something. when i do feel hunger, i will eat a healthy amount and have cravings for certain food. i will also drink carnation instant breakfast, which helps sometimes when I just got to get some substance in my belly. I am not anorexic, I feel good about the way I look, I am not bulimic, I hate puking. Is it Normal, to just not feel hunger???

I don't know why but I am the SAME WAY. I am 26 and have kids, I have high metabolism and weigh about 110 pounds. I have Never went on a diet and don't worry about my weight (until I notice it has dropped to much) but I don't ever get "hungry" until I start to get shaky or a gut ache from having nothing in there. Even then I don't want to eat but I make myself eat something just to get rid of the shaky feeling. I feel like eating is a waste of time and I certainly don't have the time to stop and eat 3 to 4 times a day. It is so much easier for me to grab a carnation breakfast drink or an Ensure shake to give me a boost. Im not anorexic, I'm not bulimic (I hate puking as well), I just simply don't remember and don't enjoy eating. I have seen the Dr. about this many times and they have tried a variety of different medications to try to simulate an appetite but everything that I have tried just makes me really sick. So it is Normal for ME to NOT feel hunger but I'm not sure if why or how many other people have this same problem. I was glad to see your post because knowing that I'm not the only one with this problem kinda makes me feel better about it.

How about you munch on some celery if you have a slow metabolism? It's called eat healhty. I have the same problem, but I don't blame the food, or my slow metabolsism for not being a perfect figured woman. I am healhty and that is fine I eat what I know my body can handle.

Jeeze, go see a doctor and fix yourself before you start vomiting up all your food or starving yourself.

I also hate eating, and food. When I eat I feel terrible, and I get stomach aches. I know I have to eat, but I do not look forward to my encounters with food because I know I will be unable to stop myself from eating when I do. I do not know if this is "normal" but I know that there are a lot of girls who have this in common with us-even if they won't admit it.

Of course it is NOT normal to hate all foods. It is fine to hate some foods. I admit I stay clear away from many foods that I used to eat when I was younger. Growing up most of us have limited choices, we eat what is put in front of us. When you become an adult (I'm assuming you are not), you will be able to pick and choose what you wish to eat, and can elimate all the bad ones that are unhealthy. Unfortunately the young are often limited in what to have for meals and are forced to eat what is there otherwise they resort to eating junk. Some things do get much easier when you reach adulthood, one of them is food, you are the boss and can decide what you wish to eat. Then, you will not hate food as you claim or not at all. I venture you are eating foods you do not like. Give it time or ask to have more choices.

i have been wondering the same thing as u. i am 5'5" and 125 lbs. i feel like food is my biggest enemy and i hate and love it at the same time. i do not like to think about food but i think about it constantly. when i eat i feel like i cant stop and then i feel guilty about what i have ate. i have always felt like this was not normal but i am starting to think it is because i hear of more people who feel the same way everyday.

I hate to be harsh but hell. Take me for example. I am super skinny and eat a lot but I can't gain weight because of an enzyme deficency. You should be greatful you are not like me. Stop being an idiot and get over it. Do you want to be a no curves freak that no guy/girl will ever like.

are you fifeteen and think you are "really ,really fat"? well stop it I really don't beleive that you hate food because if you do you hate life. you probably have a eating disorder, so seek help or suffer the consequenses...and no, eating disorders are not normal...get help.
