i far prefer documentaries or lectures on interesting subjects to most movies (and especially to the "based on actual events" movies). i usually find some sort of medical lecture or random nature documentary online to fall asleep to. i just think most movies are horribly boring crap, and i actually like learning about things. i figured i'd outgrow it, but i'm 31. i realize i must be a total nerd, but are there any others out there?
As to the "based on real events" movies, I tend to agree to a certain extent -- especially the Oliver Stone class of crap.
But there are some movies that are intended to be biographical, and track pretty well with the actual events. Some that come to mind include Gandhi, Zulu, Lawrence of Arabia, Apollo 13 and that sort of film. I do enjoy those.
Most of the time for me personally, watching documentaries inspires my own fiction, which is much more entertaining than half the schlock Hollywood tosses our way anyhoo.
